Adjacent to this beautiful village’s salmon stream and tumbling waterfall (sketched by Turner), this top floor apartment forms part of a skilful conversion of the property built in the 17th century as a water-powered corn mill on the site of an even earlier Mill. Waters Edge Apartment is a quiet haven providing a comfortable rural retreat with a view down the village stream to Wensleydale.

In 2018 the apartment was awarded a ’Zero Waste to Landfill’ certificate by Yorwaste Ltd. The owners are proud to be reducing its carbon footprint by using Green Electricity with electric radiators and a smart meter, all waste is now recycled meaning none is sent to landfill and you can even have milk delivered in glass bottles!
West Burton is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and has a large green and excellent walks in all directions and there is fishing nearby. This is a good central holiday base from which to explore the whole of the Yorkshire Dales. Shop and pub 300 yards.

Malcolm and Anne's property The Mill was such a lovely place to stay. They catered for our every need whilst we spent several days there for our break. The flat/apartment itself is absolutely perfect in its' location and is set in gloriously picturesque scenery beside a river over looking a stunning waterfall within the quaint village West Burton. The property had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. It was immaculately clean upon our arrival, aired perfectly to aid the hot weather, bright and decorated to a high standard. The bedroom was a perfect size and we slept extremely well each night of our stay in a comfortable bed. We had bedding, towels and linen provided which is often not supplied. The living room and kitchen space is more than adequate. We had plentiful crockery, pans, utensils and equipment to make meal times extremely easy. The bathroom had a fabulous strong power shower and bath with extremely hot water, the best of both worlds. Though we did not watch television frequently, to have such an array of things available to watch was such a kind and considerate touch from Malcolm and Anne and with a large dining table to sit at, our meals together felt homely and our evenings could not of been more relaxing. Eating by the river outside which we did on several occasions was bliss. There have been many places that we have over the past few years that have been extremely basic accommodation, The Mill is certainly not. We found there to be no negative aspects to our stay whatsoever. Some reviews we have read about this property we feel are un kind, petty and cruel. The Mill is lovely and we highly recommend that you stay here. The beauty of the place and the surrounding areas speak for themselves. We had spoken to Malcolm and Anne prior to our stay, during and after our trip. They have been such kind, warm, thoughtful and extremely accommodating hosts. We will look forward to making another booking with them! Thank you for a lovely break away. Love, Laura and Richard xx

Location is wonderful. The reason for staying there in fact. The apartment is fine but needs modernising/ upgrading somewhat. A very positive experience. The village pub is good and so is the shop/ tea room. Wensleydale is wonderful, quiet and peaceful and West Burton is untouched by time.

A problem with the electric heating system superseded all of the apartment's pleasing features. The indoor temperature was 10 degrees when we arrived and it took hours to reach 20. The programmed temperature controls did not function correctly and over our 5-day stay the electricity consumed amounted to £73. Fortunately, a winter fuel supplement of £50 per week limited the amount we paid. The location is excellent, with views of the Cauldron waterfall and the river. The living area is comfortable (when warm) and well equipped. West Burton is a lovely village with a friendly pub, a butchers and a shop/tea room. Great area for walks from the doorstep.
