A stylish cottage with rural views towards the coastline from the patio. Alnwick and the beach at Bamburgh just a short drive.

Offering contemporary interiors, these single-storey semi-detached holiday cottages standing in their own grounds, are tasteful and elegant and sure to delight. The cottages have been renovated and are on a slightly elevated site to maximise the fantastic views, (Outlook Cottage, ref 26283 has views over towards the coast, and Inglenook Cottage, ref 26282 has views around Wandylaw), yet are only 9 miles from the historic town of Alnwick. This is an ideal location to explore this glorious coastline. Bamburgh, with its majestic fortress towering over the village, is a short drive with a golden sandy beach making an idyllic spot for picnics and days by the sea. Alnwick has enchanting water gardens and a famous castle as well as many pubs, eateries, fine shops and cobbled streets. Nearby Seahouses, famous for its lovely fish and chips, is a bustling harbour town unchanged for years. Take a boat trip from here to the Farne Islands to see the migrating birds or seals. No trip to Northumberland is complete without heading over to Holy Island, reached by a causeway at low tide. You will find golf courses, hills and valleys for strolling, rambling, cycling or driving. Lovely cottage, wonderful views, great weather, just a bit out of the way of local amenities.

Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location with stunning views, perfectly located just off the A1 with great access to explore the beautiful beaches and villages around the area. Close to the amazing beach and castle at Bamburgh, the seaside resort of Seahouses, and the walk around Holy Island is a must - check the tide times! The cottage is beautifully presented and well stocked but would benefit for swapping the dishwasher for a washing machine, for wet clothes after being at the beach! The underfloor heating feels cosy and warm when you first arrive, but was far too hot most of the time (and can't be regulated) which meant with minus temperatures outside we had to have the windows open all the time we were in the cottage, but had to suffer at night due to the single storey nature of the cottage, and the incredibly noisy heating unit outside the main bedroom. Also the beds were some of the least comfy I have ever slept on and led to us having to swap beds every night so everyone could get at least one good night's sleep! A new mattress in the main bedroom or at least a memory foam topper would make a huge difference to comfort. The metal bed in the twin room was so squeaky my 9 year old son ended up sleeping on the floor as it woke him up every time he moved! Apart from that we had an amazing stay, The White Swan at Warenford and the Pack Horse Inn at Ellingham were great pubs for fabulous meals within 10 mins drive and there is a shop selling basic groceries 5 mins up the A1.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for great feedback, it is much appreciated. We always take customer feedback as constructive and we have addressed your areas of concern. As a result of your review we would like to add the following points. Heating. The boiler and heating system has now been completely replaced despite the original system only being a few years old. Of course now we can regulate the heat more affectively although as you will appreciate the temperature of the room is quite a personal thing and we can’t always have it right first time. Also, by replacing the system we have a much quieter set up. The main bedroom. The double mattress is new. Again, the firmness of the mattress is personal choice but to help this we now supply foam mattress toppers. Single beds in the second bedroom no longer Squeak. Your feedback on the dishwasher/washing machine is interesting. We have surveyed this before and because most of our guests only stop for short breaks it was voted the dishwasher was more advantageous than a cloths washer. Once again we appreciate your feedback and all the good points you mention. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

This is a really lovely spot with terrific views straight across to Bamburgh Castle and the North Sea. You get the full vista of the weather changes that come from being near one of the highest and fastest tidal flows in the world. The cottage is ideally based for all the surrounding sites to visit and enjoy. Being and enclosed garden our Cocker Spaniel could stare through the fence at the hundreds of game birds breeding in the area. The only downside for us ~ the beds were not the most comfortable.
