Hexham is a lovely town with lots of historic attractions and a popular place to visit at any time of year. Visit Hexham Abbey, which sits proudly in the marketplace of the town. Dating back to AD674, this old priory boasts an interactive exhibition and a visitor centre, as well as fabulous grounds and public spaces. Within a short walk there are a variety of restaurants and eateries, a theatre, a cinema, a golf course and a leisure centre with a pool and ten-pin bowling alley. For guests who enjoy a day at the races, Hexham Racecourse is within a short drive away and has a packed calendar all year round. Walkers and cyclists will find themselves only a short distance away from established public footpaths, walking routes and cycle paths.
