Virginia Lodge is an ideal place from which to stay whilst exploring the local area. This single storey semi-detached holiday annexe is adjacent to the owner’s home and is comfortably furnished. With a pleasant sitting-out area, it really is somewhere to return to after a long day out. The property is located just outside the coastal town of Watchet. The ancient sea port has a good range of shops, places to eat and pubs. There is also the harbour area and you can join the West Somerset Railway at the local station. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor and many other places to visit to make a memorable holiday. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, are famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (National Trust), valley of the rocks and the funicular cliff railway. Looking towards Minehead, there is the promenade to enjoy a walk and an icecream as well as having a good array of shops and other amenities. The West Somerset Railway is worth a visit for those with an interest in stream engines. Dunster Castle (National Trust) and village, with its beautiful terraced gardens, deer park and mill will make for an interesting day out as well as Porlock Weir. There are beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor for all to enjoy. Beach 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Very comfortable stay and Duncan and Sue had thought of everything that you may need. Walking the dog at night was an issue for me as there was no path and you have to step on the grass verge when cars come along and there are a couple of bends, so take a torch. The village is close by you can walk it no problem and it’s a lovely harbour with cafes and shops and some nice dog friendly pubs. Great location if you want to get in the car and explore other villages. Highly recommend

Very clean, nice big bedrooms with nice large comfy bed. Shower was excellent. Nice location for exploring West Somerset and the beach a 20 minute walk away but unfortunately located on a busy road with no foot path so not suitable for young children. Great view from garden but not dog friendly as not secure to let dog out. We had a lovely week away and on the whole was a great stay but important to be mindful of garden not being secure.
