An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage.

The complex may be 16th century but there’s nothing ancient about this first floor holiday apartment with use of an outdoor pool.

This pretty, first floor holiday apartment is on an ancient, beautiful complex that consists of a villa from the 16th century and several outbuildings. Property ITF470 is also located on the same site. It is situated in a wonderful hilltop location about 15 minutes from Florence. The property boasts a shared garden with furniture and outdoor swimming pool, perfect for relaxing by on summers days. There is much to do nearby, including many shops and restaurants, a public swimming pool, 5km, Bagno a Ripoli, 6km, and a golf course, 17km.

The nearest airport is Florence.

All on first floor: Living/dining room. Step to dining room/kitchen. 3 twin bedrooms. Bathroom with toilet. Shower room with bidet and toilet.

Open fire in living room. CH. Cot. Satellite TV. Gas/elec cooker. W/machine. D/washer. Balcony. Shared garden and furniture. Shared BBQ. Parking (1 car). Outdoor swimming pool (shared, 17m², open miid May-mid Oct weather permitting). NB: Drop in garden.

This property was a bit of a rough diamond - it had a real feeling of past grandeur. It was like a little hidden gem. The property was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. The views from the apartment of the Tuscan countryside were stunning. There was plenty of storage and the beamed ceilings were gorgeous. The property has no condiments or bits and pieces left in the kitchen or bathrooms, this isn't a problem - but come prepared. We arrived on a Sunday evening and everywhere seemed closed - there is a restaurant a couple of mins walk away but it wasn't to our taste (desserts were good!). There is a large supermarket within driving distance ( about 40mins away). I'm ashamed to say we didn't really explore the immediate local area/ village, as we were totally seduced by Florence. There isn't any tourist information or leaflets in the apartment and the friendly managers/owners don't speak English. So if you don't speak Italian, again do your research before you arrive. But really what needs to be said - Florence is 15 mins away!!! There is plenty to see in the local area and Florence is only 15/20 mins away by car! I'll never forget the first time I saw Florence laid out before me on the drive down the hill from the apartment - a view I saw every time we drove down the hill. The views driving down the hill are spectacular and you have to drive past a mansion that looks like something out of 'Beauty and the Beast'. The great thing about Italy, if you have children, is that babysitters are not needed. The Italians don't seem to bother if children are around in the evenings. With Florence being so close we went into the city every evening. There are obviously plenty of restaurants to eat in, however, some evenings we ate at the apartment and went into Florence for dessert. The ice cream parlours are open into the evening and usually also sell alcohol drinks if required - there is the option to eat in/out or take-away (prices differ accordingly). No one bothers if people chose to sit on the abundance of marble steps to eat, drink and enjoy the views. One evening we walked into a side street in Florence to find a 'pop up' art installation and bar with a Salsa band and dancing - the children loved it and enjoyed dancing with the locals! Don't miss the bridges and the amazing views of Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo. Here you'll find bars and musicians - we joined a group of students sitting on the steps listening to a busker playing the guitar, whilst we ate Gelato, obviously! We visited in the evening, when most of the crowds had left. Pisa is around an hours drive away and the coast around 60 - 90 mins. There are also the beautiful hill villages and natural hot springs within driving distance and worth a visit. The pool area was nice and we were lucky, as we had the pool to ourselves whenever we chose to use it; apart from once where another couple came out for a swim. The children really enjoyed the pool and it was nice and clean. Luckily the pool area never got busy, but if it had, there were limited sun loungers. It would be helpful if the site purchased some stackable sunloungers, so if the area was to get busy there would be enough beds for everyone. There are mosquitoes in Italy at this time of year, so come prepared. You can buy a type of spiral joss stick to light and place on the ground outside - I saw the locals use them, placed under the table when eating out. There was no air conditioning or electric fans in the apartment. However, we found if we kept the bedroom shutters and doors closed when we went out in the day, the rooms remained cool. The couple on site (they are very discreet) are friendly and although they didn't speak English we were able to communicate as much as we needed. I loved the way they had a desk/table in the garden area at the front of the car park, which served as an open air office/ dining room. There is car parking available at the property. It was totally fantastic being so close to amazing Florence and I'd recommend this apartment.
