Upon arriving, there is only 1 space for cars and you are not allowed to park any others there. If you have more cars, then you have to go to the top of the lane and park nowhere near the property. When we walked into the house, the first thing we noticed was the foisty smell. We then realised that the house is very dated. It came across to us that it was maybe an old relatives house that had passed away and they had just rented it straight out. The place didn't look like it had been cleaned for our arrival as the first thing we had to do was clean out all of the old ash from the fire. We then had to Hoover right through as there was crumbs and bits of mud on the floors. The kitchen radiator was covered in filth and the dishes and cutlery had old food stuck to them. Once we had bleached the kitchen, cleaned the dishes, made a fire and hoovered, we could finally relax. The only good things about this property were the heating, (we were lovely and warm) the shower was very powerful and the settees, although very old, were extremely comfortable. Once we went to bed, I wanted to leave. The bedding didn't smell of fresh laundry, again It had a foisty smell, but we were too tired and just wanted to sleep. The weather was terrible during our 3 nights here, with torrential rain and snow, but we didn't let it bother us and stayed warm in the property and played games that we had brought. When it came to leave, we made sure we had everything and tidied up, like I do in all properties we stay in. It was in a much more acceptable state than we had arrived in. Although, according to the caretaker, we left it muddy and stole a teatowel!!! To be honest, I really would not recommend this property. It was way overpriced in my opinion. It left me with a feeling of needing to have a good wash and put all of my clothes in the washing machine when I got home.
