Great cottage but in need of a deep clean to get rid of dog smell. Fabric sofa should be replaced as it is very tired and strongly smells of dog.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Sorry you had the smell of dog in the cottage, previous guests allowed their dog to go all over the cottage and allowed it on the sofa whilst the dog was still wet. Pets are only allowed downstairs and not on the furniture. I had to get all the carpets and chairs steam cleaned. Once again my apologies.

The cottage was beautiful, very private and in a quiet village location. The kitchen was very well equipped and every room was clean. The only reason we didn't give an overall 10 was that there was no sunlight in the garden, the sun is blocked due to overgrown trees which was such a shame as the weather was beautiful whilst we were there, this however would not stop us from visiting again. On the plus side the garden was totally enclosed so we had no worries about letting our dog into the garden, not many cottages are as well protected.

we have written to the owner of Vanstones voicing our concerns on the cleanliness of the cottage .his reply was not satisfactory and we would not consider staying again .It is a beautiful cottage in need of cleaning and attention.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I received an email a week after this guest’s stay to advise me of what was wrong and what I should do with regard to the running of the cottage as they do, (they have their own holiday flat). Regarding the low score on cleanliness, at no time did they contact the cleaning company or myself to complain so it could be rectified if needed. One would think that being in the business that surely they would have known to do so. Regarding the low score on comfort and equipment. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable, many extra things are included that many other properties do not have. As for the low score on value for money, the property is competitively priced for the 4 star grading and area. I feel my other reviews give a more balanced view of the property.

The cottage is beautiful. location ideal for walks and peacefull views across the fields. Good base to explore further up and down the coast or head in land for days out. Car essential. Th cottage was ideal for us with the two chidren sharing a bedroom. Everything in the cottage was in conjunction with its age and size. Bare essentials and a well equipped kitchen. Access was faultless and the parking essential. Well stocked with books and DVD's as well as all bedding. the lambs bouncing past out the kitchen window was a bonus from the time of year we went and the children loved it ! Cosy and very well heated. I would recommend this site for anyone who needs a base for a break from the rat race
