If you like the wonderful scenic Hartland coast and wooded valleys, and like walking, this is the place to be. Walks abound from the cottage door, and access to north or south of the Hartland a little further afield doesn't take long, care must be taken when driving on the little high hedged country lanes, blind corners there are many. We were lucky that the weather was sunny and dry, not to warm, the whole week, and we walked most of the coast path between Clovelly and Bude.

The cottage was fine, it was a bit cold at times as the only heating was the central heating, the main focus of a fire was missing! Overhaul it was a good place to stay, however one downfall was the gate at the side of the entrance that needed to be hung so it would open properly,

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Just to respond to your review. Railings and gates are being refurbished as the sea air rusts anything that is metal, and as this is a specialist’s job - it is taking a long time, hence the gate being on temporarily until they are fitted back on. The insurance does not allow for an open fire, whilst many people are used to them many are not, being thatched we have to be more careful. The property has just had a brand new boiler and radiators fitted so there should not be an issue with the heating. Location amenities, there are shops in Hartland but Stoke is a Hamlet, it is a rural picturesque setting. Location, it is on the North Devon coast.

Great cottage but in need of a deep clean to get rid of dog smell. Fabric sofa should be replaced as it is very tired and strongly smells of dog.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Sorry you had the smell of dog in the cottage, previous guests allowed their dog to go all over the cottage and allowed it on the sofa whilst the dog was still wet. Pets are only allowed downstairs and not on the furniture. I had to get all the carpets and chairs steam cleaned. Once again my apologies.
