A cosy cottage offering comfort and privacy, but close to a wealth of local services. The cottage is warm and comfortable with everything you need. The local area has plenty to see and do, lots of walking, shopping, pubs and restaurants, whatever you like to do. Lots of dog friendly places too. You can cook in the cottage and spend a cosy evening with the wood burner on, or eat out. The bright lights of Glasgow are close by too. We love this cottage because it is close to friends and family and gives us a home from home base. Thoroughly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay, but it was somehow unpersonal. Had no contact to the owner , the key was at the door, nobody gave any explanation.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; As we explain in our joining instructions, the front door is left open with the key in the lock. This gives guests the freedom to arrive at whatever time they wish. Guests have my number if they want to speak to me, otherwise I respect their privacy.

Location for our needs was excellent but interior of the property was very tried and dated it does require refurbishment. The view from the Balcony was blighted due to the fact there is a half finished Round House together with the associated noise. There is no outside lighting the torch provided was not functioning the site is under the flight path to Glasgow Airport a lot of Aircraft noise. The First Monday we were there the Electricity was cut off for the whole day due to planned works we were not notified of this! There is a lot of vegetation around the Pavillion which made the Bedrooms very dark and access to the clothes drying area impossible generally the Garden look neglected and overgrown.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I cannot accept the comments made for the following reasons: - firstly the property is subject to ongoing upgrade and refurbishment and those returning regularly will notice that over the last five years the kitchen has been totally renewed and the living area redesigned with a fitted seating area and a log burning stove. The carpets throughout the property have been replaced along with the flooring in the kitchen. The shower room upstairs was completely refurbished three years ago. All the curtains and roman blinds have been replaced in the last five years. The sofa bed in the living room was replaced three years ago. The property has an outside light above the front door. It is however in the country and there is no street lighting. There is a torch provided. While some of the flight paths into Glasgow pass overhead planes are at such a height, the airport is around 15miles away, that it is highly unusual for people to notice them, so much so that I am not aware of any other guests mentioning this issue. The view from the balcony is dominated by the fields adjacent to the property and the magnificent views of the Campsie fells. It is possible to see the Round House which is being built but it is over 150m away and screened by undergrowth. The external structure is complete so any works going on at the time were inside and great efforts were made to avoid any disturbance. A dedicated gardener keeps the ground in what most people regard as colourful and appealing condition. In our view she does a wonderful job and I sure she would be both hurt and bemused by the comments. It is certainly not the overgrown jungle implied by the comments. As was explained at the time although the power outage was planned we had not the received the notification from Scottish Power. The client was offered the use of a standby generator which they refused.
