Nestled in the picturesque hamlet of Llanymawddwy, within the southern region of Snowdonia National Park, stands Ty-Olaf cottage. The cottage boasts an inviting appearance, with stone walls that fit seamlessly into the natural surroundings. The cottage’s location offers panoramic views of the countryside and lush valleys surrounding it, providing a sense of tranquillity. Stepping inside, you’ll find the cottage follows an upside-down layout. Downstairs are two bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities, offering privacy and comfort. On the the first floor you’ll discover a delightful surprise - a spacious and beautifully designed open-plan area combining the living area, dining area and kitchen, allowing you to enjoy each other’s company while admiring the stunning scenery. The kitchen is equipped with modern appliances making it a joy to prepare meals and create delicious dishes. A dining area is thoughtfully placed to make the most of the views. The living room exudes a cosy atmosphere, with comfortable seating, an electric wood burner and décor that perfectly complements the cottage’s countryside charm. Patio doors open to a terrace where you can bask in the beauty of the surroundings, sip your morning coffee, or relish the breathtaking sunsets. Upstairs there’s also another bedroom with en-suite facilities, offering an intimate retreat for guests seeking more privacy.
Beyond the cottage’s doorstep lies an idyllic landscape, perfect for walkers, hikers and bikers alike. Snowdonia National Park offers a wealth of outdoor activities. The property lies at the head of the beautiful Dyfi Vally which was granted Biosphere status by United Nations Education and Scientific Cultural Organisation in 2009. Snowdonia was granted international Dark Sky status in 2015. This part of mid Wales is a perfect place for activity holidays with beautiful walking routes in the surrounding valleys and mountains. There is plenty for the adventure enthusiasts including fishing, sailing, paddle boarding and surfing. For the walking or cycling enthusiasts there is the traffic free Mawddach trail (a former railway line) running alongside the beautiful Mawddach Estuary. From Dolgellau to Barmouth, Coedy Brenin and Dyfi Bike Park provide excellent mountain opportunities over some of the most challenging terrain in the UK. The foot of Bwich-y-Groes the second highest road in Wales, is a mile or so up the lane. Bike hire is available at Lake Vyrnwy and Dolgellau. The Arrans in southern Snowdonia are one of Wales’ best kept secrets. Aran Fawddwy footpaths run from Llanymawddwy and is the highest peak in the range. It sits at 905m and there are stunning views from the summit. As the area is often mistakenly overlooked, you’ll have the mountains to yourself for hours on end. The linear ridge walk is one of the most straightforward routes in the region and the panoramic views include the peaks of north Snowdonia, Bala Lake and much of mid-Wales. Other attractions include golf, water sport at Bala Lake and Lake Vyrnwy. There are spectacular coastlines and beaches at Barmouth and Aberdovey.
