Description

This spacious converted barn in the Brecon Beacons National Park is a great holiday base with activities and attractions nearby.

Ty Gwilym Barn nestles in a peaceful courtyard in Llangorse village. Set within the Brecon Beacons National Park, the barn oozes character including exposed beams, stonework and many original features. The owners, who live close by, have furnished and presented this spacious holiday home beautifully and it also enjoys views of open meadows and of Myndd Troed. Ty Gwilym is very conveniently situated, tucked away from the main village but with two pubs within a very short walking distance. Its doorstep amenities, as well as peace and quiet make it the perfect holiday base with lots of activities and attractions nearby.
Llangorse lies in the crook of the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains. With its stunning lake and breathtaking scenery, it’s a perfect setting for both the very active and those who prefer a more gentle and relaxing holiday. In high season, the lake offers fishing, rowing boats, canoe and kayak hire, while the Llangorse Activity Centre offers climbing, sky trekking and horse riding. A walker’s haven; public footpaths lead directly from Ty Gwilym and within easy driving distance, there are more challenging walks such as Offa’s Dyke, Pen y Fan, Sugar Loaf Mountain and Hay Bluff.
Ty Gwilym Barn is a peaceful retreat central to a wide variety of cultural and outdoor pursuits that the area is famous for. The major festivals at Hay-on-Wye, Brecon and Abergavenny are all within easy reach. Shop 3 miles, pub 200 yards.

Situated at edge of a village with 2 pubs, church and easy access to many sight-seeing places. The home itself is beautiful and in excellent condition.. just as seen in the pics! Even though not much garden space, the adventure centre (very nearby) was a real hit with the children, along with the lake with facilities (lake, walkable). Many walks and horse rides nearby. The home was really welcomingly set for our arrival. Alina was very responsive to all communication, even popping by to ensure we were comfortable, giving valuable local info. Would certainly recommend. Thank you Alina!

Accommodation is roomy, very clean and there is private parking in a large car port. All you need is there plus nice touches like bottle of wine and cake on arrival and bottled water in bedrooms. We did not demand local amenities as we wanted a stay in the country but it is located on the edge of a village with two local pubs within easy walking distance. There were a couple of plumbing issues but it was easy to contact owners Alina and Martyn who responded quickly and are very approachable. A small criticism is that the washing machine freezer and tumble drier are all in the car port and were quite dirty on the outside, covered in leaves etc. They work perfectly well however but the look could put some people off. The cleanliness score would have been a 10 otherwise. It’s a beautiful barn conversion and we would not hesitate to stay there again. We are a family of four which includes two teenage children.

Had a great weekend at Ty Gwilym with friends. Accommodation perfect for family or 2 couples, every minute detail from books, games and DVDs to carafe of water in bedroom. Quality linen and facilities made for a comfortable stay. One of the best cottages we have stayed in both at home and abroad.

We stayed at Ty Gwilym over new year. We found it the most relaxing cottage that we have stayed at. The owners personal finishing touches add to what is already a very cosy cottage. We would highly recommend this property and hope to be visiting again in the future. In our opinion Ty Gwilym deserves a higher grade than it receives on the web site we booked it through. Also the Castle Inn deserves a visit too.
