Description

Set in an enviable position in beautiful grounds, this property enjoys stunning views across Jedburgh towards the abbey and Cheviot Hills.

Enjoying stunning views from every window across Jedburgh towards the abbey and Cheviot Hills, this architect-designed cottage is set in an enviable position in beautifully landscaped grounds and provides a peaceful, relaxing holiday haven. This cottage adjoins another holiday cottage. From this cottage it is a short walk of approximately 220 yards to go down into town on a pedestrian route which provides a gradual ascent or decent of the hill. Jedburgh is a charming market town set on the Jed Water, with a wide range of traditional shops and numerous pubs, cafés and restaurants. Historically there is plenty to see, including the ancient medieval abbey (especially impressive when floodlit each night), and outdoor pursuits include cycling, golf, fishing and walking. Places to visit locally include Jedforest Deer Farm Park, Monteviot House Gardens, Harestanes Countryside Centre, and a little further afield, Kielder Water and Forest Park, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Shops and restaurants 500 yards.

Ten steps to entrance. Living/dining room with well-equipped kitchen area. Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Cottage well laid out, compact and clean. Location very central with fantastic views over the town. Everything extremely straight forward.

A great spot to explore the area. The cottage is very quiet as it is below the car park and road with many steps down to its access. There is an abundance of local birdlife that will come to the balcony outside the picture windows if you buy some bird seed as we did! The local area has loads to do. There are many country houses to visit within 30 minutes drive including Sir Walter Scott's home. Edinburgh is about 1.5 hours away on a beautiful drive on quiet roads. If you don't want to drive there is Jedburgh Abbey, the Castle and museum and Mary Queen of Scots house within walking distance of the cottage!
