Nestled in the Nantgwynant Valley at the base of Snowdon, just a few minutes’ drive to the picturesque village of Beddgelert, this cottage is on the edge of a small pod and lodge accommodation park. It is only 330 yards from the start of the Watkin Path to the top of Snowdon, or if you fancy a more leisurely way to the top, Llanberis is a short drive of 25 minutes’, where you can take the train up to the summit.
You’ll be situated in between Llyn Dinas and Llyn Gwynant, where you are free to paddle board and kayak. There’s also a lovely walk along the river from here into the centre of Beddgelert. For Llyn Gwynant, a pass can be purchased from the camp site at the lake. The area has an abundance of walks surrounded by impressive scenery, arguably the best in Wales. In the centre of Beddgelert there are friendly eateries, a small local convenience store, and not forgetting the very popular ice cream parlour. The village itself is steeped in history and folk lore. Sygun Copper Mine is just down the road and is well worth a visit for all ages.
The area is considered the ’adventure capital of Wales’ and there is an abundance of opportunities for climbing, hiking, walking, cycling and water sports available. Blaenau Ffestiniog is under 30 minutes’ drive where there is the award-winning Llechwedd Slate Caverns/Zip World, a great day out for the kids and adults alike; there are various activities for all interests such as deep mine tours, underground golf, ziplines and much more.
Porthmadog is only 7 miles away and is a busy harbour town, home to the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railway, a must visit for families and rail enthusiasts alike. You are within easy reach of Black Rock Sands where you’ll find miles of sweeping sands and dunes to explore. Pack your walking boots along with a bucket and spade as this area has the best of both worlds.
