Description

This beautiful house is perfect for families or groups of friends, close to Talisker distillery and inn serving food.

Trien Lodge is a spacious, detached and well-equipped holiday house, furnished to a very good standard to ensure a great holiday experience. Just 1½ miles from the coastal village of Carbost on the Minginish Peninsula, with stunning views over Loch Harport and the Cuillin, Trien Lodge is convenient for reaching the village where you have a shop/post office, Talisker distillery, Skye’s only distillery, and an inn which serves food all day and has regular live music. The walking is superb for all levels– Talisker Bay, Glenbrittle Beach, Fairy Pools and the Cuillin for the experienced climbers and so much more. A trip to Dunvegan Castle and the coral beach, Neist Point Lighthouse or the beautiful Waternish peninsula are all recommended and are all on the west side of the island. Portree, the bustling main town, is where you can take a stroll down to the harbour and watch the fishing vessels unload their catch of the day. Take a sea trip from Portree to see the varied sea and bird life and also enjoy the beauty of the rugged coastline. To the north of Portree, is the Trotternish Peninsula, which boasts some of Skye’s most stunning scenery. To the south of the island is Broadford, where you will find ‘The Garden of Skye’. Here you can visit the ruins of Armadale Castle and its lovely gardens. Skye has so much to offer in the way of outdoor pursuits with kayaking, pony trekking, boat trips, fishing and angling available. Shop and pub 1½ miles.

All of the double beds in the house need checked & fixed or replaced, one collapsed an other had a very uncomfortable mattress. New beds would make this house 5 star all round.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry for the problem the guest had with one of our beds. This was not due to age or lack of maintenance but to a design fault. We fixed the bed immediately we were made aware of the problem. Other guests have commented on how comfortable the furniture is. We are delighted that, apart from the bed problem, the guest thought that our property could be 'five star all round'.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and wonderfully situated on Skye. However the dining table is too small for the number of people the cottage sleeps. Meal times were cramped. This was a shame as the dining room could easily accommodate an appropriately sized table. Also, there was no handwash provided in any of the bathrooms. This is not acceptable for a cottage of this price (particularly as it is situated a good few miles from a suitable shop).

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are very sorry that you found the dining table small and hence meal times to be 'cramped'. We have never had a complaint of this kind before and wonder if you failed to notice that the dining table extends with an extra leaf at each end. This provides ample space for eight adults to eat in comfort. (See the picture of dining table laid for eight on website).

We arrived at the cottage and found everything as described. Comfortable furniture, modern kitchen and bathrooms. Even a wine cooler, a first in any cottage we have stayed in. We love Skye and would go back to Trien Lodge again without hesitation.
