Upon arrival we were really looking forward to a brew after our 12hr journey. Unfortunately the kettle was dirty and there was turf coming out of the cold water drinking tap! It was too late to go shopping, so we spent the first night purifying water on the cooker. Not ideal when you’re tired and in need of a drink. We got over this by purchasing a new kettle the next day and we bought large containers of water each day. We also bought a new toaster as that had also seen better days. We left them both at the house for future occupants. Some one did pop around to the house to check if everything was ok, when I mentioned the turf in the water, she said that’s normal! The rain can send it down the mountain, you just need to let the tap run for a bit. Running the tap for a bit didn’t work and we hadn’t come across this problem anywhere else we’d stayed in Ireland. Definitely worth mentioning as you will need to budget for purchasing water if this is deemed ‘normal!’ Other than the above, Treenbeg ticked all our boxes. The views are amazing and the house is gorgeous. Only thing missing was the clean water, oh and a welcome basket would have been a nice touch.

What a beautiful place to stay, peace, tranquility and local amenities only a few miles away. Views to die for. Comfortable house with everything you needed, and located with easy access to a number of beautiful beaches, loughs and safe cycleways. Nearest town Newport has all you need and is set on the beautiful Black Oak river. Highly recommend and the owners were more than helpful.
