The cottage was lovely and quirky but the cleanliness was terrible. The bathroom was awful the oven was terrible. It was a real let down from the photos online. We get it’s an old cottage but that doesn’t mean it can’t be clean

Upon arrival the cottage looked very nice, but on opening the door we could smell the damp straight away & there was a smell of sewage outside the cottage. The cottage was quite cold & all the night storage heaters were turned off. We turned all these on but they don't warm up until the following evening, so we resorted to the electric blow heaters provided. After a couple of days it had warmed up & dried out nicely & was very comfortable. On the second day, we noticed sewage issuing from a manhole cover outside the property, so we informed the owner of the problem & despite being contacted by them, nothing was done during the rest of our 4 day stay. By the time we left, the flow of sewage was much worse so we again contacted the owners but got no reply. To compound the problems, on Monday morning the building site opposite the cottage started work & was quite noisy & on the Tuesday morning a large area of the car park was covered in a mound of soil. Fortunately, we had great weather, but had it rained we could see it becoming very muddy indeed. Despite all this, we enjoyed our time at Trecarian but feel that the owners should spend some time at the cottage & get the issues sorted out.

Charming, comfortable little cottage making for a pleasant stay. All rooms were pleasing. Only complaint is that the hot water tank was small so we couldn't take 2 consecutive baths
