Torwoodlee has the potential to be a good holiday cottage but is let down by the poor level of maintenance/cleaning and the need for an upgrade. In particular, first impressions of the outside were poor because of dirty doors and sills which looked as though they hadn't been touched for months. We had to get the cleaning agency out because of * bedsheet put on bed even though there were signs of a seagull messing it up during drying outside. * widespread dust on fireplace and TV in lounge area *crumbs on the dining table * poor cleaning of cutlery and crockery..slipshod. The overall impression was that cleaning was at best cursory. There was no welcome pack...not even a pint of milk and there was half a toilet roll for the entire week for the two of us. We passed these comments to the owner on the second day and feel that the cleaning agency did not expect any inspections from the owners. Much of the furniture and equipment looked as though it had been the same since the 1980/90s. For the charges made for a week's stay, we would expect so much more. Probably the worst place we have stayed in when, as we said, when with regular cleaning and better maintenance it could be a delightful place in a good spot.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am sorry the guests did not enjoy their stay in our seaside cottage at Beadnell. The outside sills are cleaned every 4 weeks when the windows and sills are cleaned by a local professional window cleaner. As the cottage is next to the sea, quite a lot of sand can be blown onto the sills. The cleaner attended immediately after the holiday guest contacted her and before she left she ascertained that everything was to their satisfaction. When I was contacted a day later by the guest I offered some extra cleaning time but he refused the offer. The oven, hob, larder fridge, dishwasher and microwave were new in July 2015 when the property was refurbished, redecorated and re carpeted. In our opinion the property is well maintained and the cleaning is of a high standard. When we were contacted we offered extra cleaning but this was declined.
