Description

Situated in a rural setting, guests can enjoy a relaxing holiday at this property, with the added bonus of a wood-burning stove.

Nestled peacefully in 7-acre open/woodland grounds, on the edge of the Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire borders, this charming, semi-detached (other property unoccupied) barn conversion, adjacent to the owners’ home, makes a perfect holiday base for families or couples looking to explore the rolling hills and unblemished beaches of west Wales. The barn has been sympathetically resorted to retain much of its original attractive features, including stone walls and oak beams. Lots of welcoming touches have been added, such as slate flooring and a traditional wood-burning stove for those cosy nights in. Guests can relax on their own private patio area and enjoy splendid views over the 7 acres of woodland. For the more energetic, cycle the many local cycle routes or take a short drive to the rugged Preseli Hills and ramble the numerous trails amongst the picturesque countryside. The nearby market towns of Newcastle Emlyn and Carmarthen are rich with Welsh culture and offer an array of traditional pubs and restaurants, boutique shops and medieval castles. Visit Laugharne, home of the famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, where visitors can discover his iconic boat house or explore the 13th-century Norman castle which lies on the fringe of the glistening river Taf. Take a trip to the popular tourist resort of Tenby and discover its selection of sandy beaches and spectacular coastline, or enjoy thrilling leisure parks, including Oakwood and Folly Farm. Golf can also be found in the local area. Beach 16 miles. Shop 9 miles, pub 3 miles.

Spacious, open-plan, beamed living room with wood-burning stove and French doors/dining room with galley-style kitchen area and slate floors. First floor: Beamed double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet. Further double bedroom. Bunk bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. All rooms with wooden floors.

We had a lovely stay at Top Barn. The barn itself is clean, modern, well done and perfectly kitted out, although we found the sofas very uncomfortable. Lovely big space outside. We knew the house was some distance from amenities etc as explained in the description of the barn, which we thought wouldn’t be a problem but by the end of the week we were a bit fed up with it, and is the only reason we wouldn’t stay there again. This didn’t have anything to do with the Barn itself, which I would highly recommend as long as you are happy in the middle of nowhere (plus side is that Tesco delivered!) The other thing to note is that you are in very close proximity to the owners so your paths do cross (which wasn’t an issue for us) and they do cross the garden space to get to barns every day so if you are looking for somewhere super private this wouldn’t be the house for you.
