Description

An ideal base for large groups and families with many attractions nearby and discover the beaches at Hunstanton and Heacham.

Dating back to the 18th-century, this elegant hall stands detached within large lawned gardens and offers a unique opportunity for large groups and families wishing to holiday together. It is situated within rural countryside just off the road between Kings Lynn and Wisbech road giving easy access for exploration of the wonderful North Norfolk coastline, surrounding villages and market towns. The historic town of Kings Lynn is just 5 miles away with its market square and picturesque riverside; visitors will find shops, pubs and restaurants in abundance. Golf, riding and fishing are close by. Lovely sandy beaches and RSPB reserves are within half an hour’s drive. West and North Norfolk have expanses of sandy beaches and salt marshes along the coastline, as well as nature reserves to protect the birds and plants which thrive here. The seaside resorts of Hunstanton and Heacham boast award-winning beaches and an array of traditional seaside activities and attractions for all ages. Hunstanton has a pier with lively seasonal entertainment, Sea Life Centre and cliff-top golf course. Sandringham Estate, the Queen’s country residence, with its Jacobean-style house, museum, superb gardens and park, is open to the public when the Royal Family is not in residence. The market town of Wisbech is 15 miles, and the medieval town of Kings Lynn, 5 miles, features a handsome waterfront and an array of shops, inns, restaurants, a theatre, cinema, bowling alley and sports centre. Downham Market, 10 miles, with its Friday and Saturday markets boasts a direct rail link to Ely, Cambridge and London (1 hour 20 minutes). To the south lies Ely Cathedral, ’Ship of the Fens’, standing proudly in the small city of Ely, which has an excellent Saturday market and a good variety of gift shops, as well as a pretty waterfront and boat hire. Cambridge is easily accessible for the day and well worth a visit. One of the nicest ways to explore the city is by punt, which meanders through the city and passes many of the stunning university grounds. Norwich is an hour’s drive, where a visit to the stunning cathedral is not to be missed. Shops 1½ miles, pub 1 mile.

We had a lovely family reunion in this elegant period property. The house is straight out of a Jane Austen book. The kids loved the space both inside & out - lots of places to hide & seek! The rooms are spacious and contained everything we needed for a week. Lots of information about the property (including useful maps) & an interesting booklet about the house. We would definitely return to this property if we came back to Norfolk.
