Description

Overlooking Gowla Bay, this detached house is a great base from which to explore the beautiful Wild Atlantic Way.

Architecturally designed and built by members of the Keane family, Ti Mhaggie is a luxurious, detached retreat overlooking Gowla Bay, on the Wild Atlantic Way in Connemara. Relax in the natural garden, or sit in the sun room and watch the ever-changing tide against a backdrop of the unspoilt Connemara Hills with all its colour and beauty. This detached, single-storey house is ideally situated for anybody wanting to absolutely get away from the hustle and bustle of busy living, but yet keep all the comforts of home including an Apple iMac PC and wireless printer for guests to use. The quiet village of Carna is just 5 miles away, and here you will find a selection of shops and pubs (some with Irish music sessions). Clifden, a pretty and lively town, is about 15 miles away and is home to several festivals during the year such as The Horse Fair and The Arts Festival.

For the more active, the area is a wonderful walker’s paradise, with both roadway and hill walking readily available. The owner’s 26 acres of grounds are also available for guests to use just a short distance away. There is beach pony trekking in Ballyconneely, near Clifden, and miles of quiet roads to cycle on. Lake, river or deep sea fishing can also be found nearby, and guests can actually bring their own boat as the owner’s land is on the shoreline. During the summer months, there are regattas in the bay, with old fashioned Irish boats such as ’currachs’ and ’Galway Hookers.’ There are beautiful, white sand beaches in Carna, and sea kayaking is also available. There are also many islands in the area to explore. For golfers, Oughterard is a lovely parkland course, and Connemara Golf Club in Ballyconneely is a challenging links course. Kylemore Abbey, the Connemara National Park, the Aran Islands, Inisbofin and Galway City are all worth a day trip and are within easy reach. Shannon airport is 160km away, and Dublin airport is 280km away. Beach 6 miles. Shop 6 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

Approximate distance to Knock airport is 128 km.

Gorgeous holiday home, very spacious and comfortable with amazing views. No obvious walks from the house and no amenities within walking distance but wonderfully relaxing and stunning scenery. Absolutely spotless and with everything you need for a very comfortable and relaxing stay.

This is a beautiful, spacious property with an amazing view of an Ocean inlet. The donkeys in the paddock were an unexpected bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - a great spot to relax and explore the wonders of Connemara.
