A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Description

Deceptively spacious accommodation perfect for a couple wishing to explore South Norfolk and Suffolk with lots of attractions close by.

Nestled in a quiet side lane within the pretty village of Thompson, semi-detached Thyme Cottage offers deceptively spacious accommodation to those seeking a relaxing retreat from all the every day stresses and strains, while being very well positioned for exploring the area. Head west to the gateway of the breathtaking North Norfolk coast in under an hour, or a little further afield find all the fun of the fair at Great Yarmouth. You can explore Norwich with it’s medieval streets and fine Norman castle, the old quarter of Kings Lynn, Ely with its magnificent cathedral and Bury St Edmunds with its picturesque abbey, all within an hours drive - or take a trip to Banham Zoo or Bressingham Steam and Gardens.
Those wishing to relax and stay close to home will discover that Thompson itself is surrounded by lots of walks and cycle routes including the Peddars Way and the Pingu Trail, a circular 6 mile walk that takes in meadows, heathland and woodland. Also close by is the Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s Thompson Common and Thompson Water, both great places for viewing wildlife and birds. Nature lovers should also head to Thetford Forest, the UK’s largest manmade, lowland forest with 18,730 hectares, also home to High Lodge and Go Ape. Birdwatchers should make sure that they find the time to visit RSPB Lakenheath Fen. And, after a day’s sightseeing you will be pleased to return to the peace and quiet of Thyme Cottage to relax and unwind. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

A quiet and tranquil setting. Great hosts that were very accommodating. Pub and restaurant within walking distance. Fully recommend for a relaxing week away from the hassle of life.

Very disappointed with the owners, they had gone on holiday and obviously forgot they had a booking. We were chasing around the day before still trying to make contact for key collection etc. On arrival there was no information, no visitor book ( which was a first ), there was a folder telling you how to use the kettle but, nothing telling you where anything was or what to do with the recycling or bins etc. When the owners arrived back on the Friday before we left they didn't introduce themselves or apologise for the contact issues.

Excellent cottage, well equipped and comfortable. Only problem was heating not circulating properly and lounge was a little chilly.
