These purpose-built holiday cottages (refs 24574, 27255 and 27257) have been constructed or converted from the original farmhouse buildings and an old Welsh longhouse. Welsh craftsmanship at its best - only the finest local tradesmen and materials have been used for the conversion of these buildings. They are situated in an elevated position on the edge of Broadlay near Ferryside on the old pilgrim road to St David’s Cathedral a half mile from the Three Rivers Hotel and Spa. Guests are welcome to use all the facilities at the hotel such as the swimming pool. There is generous amenity space, dog walking paths and a country adventure play area for small, accompanied children. The complex is on the local bus route which connects to Carmarthen via the hotel and Ferryside railway station. In the opposite direction, Kidwelly and Swansea are en route. Ferryside is uncommercialised, peaceful and quiet; the ideal getaway for a perfect weekend (or longer) break. It is also, due to its proximity to Carmarthen, Llanelli and other centres, an ideal corporate meeting place. Kidwelly, with its Norman castle, industrial heritage museum, Pembrey Country Park and Motorsport Centre, within approximately 10 minutes’ travelling time. The National Botanical Gardens, Laugharne (famous for Dylan Thomas’ Boathouse) and many Pembrokeshire attractions are about half an hour’s drive. There are many places to visit including Dylan Thomas’ cottage, where he spent the last years of his life. The Millennium Coastal Cycle Path, part of the national cycle path network, meanders through approximately 20 miles of local coastline, passing through local areas of interest. Places to visit include Kidwelly Castle, the Penclawydd Wildfowl Centre, and the Loughor Estuary with views of the Mumbles Peninsula south of Swansea. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

A very tired property with no internet which was a big issue for us and the owners promised to sort it out but never did. We booked for a week but left 3 days early as there was an issue with flys on the second floor. The first day we arrived there were dead flys in the beds and we had to clean the kitchen first. We feel it would not cost a lot to bring this property up to scratch. We would not return again.

This has the potential to be a really nice place for large groups to stay as all bedrooms are ensuite. unfortunately while we were there the drains were smelly and gurgling, one hot bath tap in the attic bedroom wouldn’t work until it was manually pulled forcibly outwards. The cooker has all the temperatures rubbed off and a knob is missing. The ailing dishwasher failed by Thursday and despite phone calls ( no phone signal didn’t help) and a visit to the hotel on day 2 with a list the septic tank wasn’t emptied until Friday- the day before we went home. The cottage is spacious and nicely furnished and the Internet is ok, there is no phone signal at all but the owners have provided a payphone. There isn’t much to do in Ferryside but lots of nicer places nearby. Access to the beach is over the railway line which is The main line to Carmarthen. The tide was out most mornings so the beach wasn’t visible until the afternoon. There is now a pedestrian ferry to Llansteffan beach opposite timetables are shown at the Ferryside station, it doesn’t run every day There is an indoor pool in the Three Rivers hotel available for cottage guests but it’s also used by folk on the caravan park next door. Food in the hotel was ok we went to the Sunday carvery which was crowded but had lots of choices of meats and an enormous choice of vegetables. If you like you like your meat well done you’ll love it

Excellent size rooms a real treat, all bedrooms were huge and good dining space. Plenty of hot water. Unfortunately it lacked TLC, needed a deep clean especially the dining tables. Would be fantastic if it was updated.

The cottage was lovely and met our needs as a large group of differing ages. There were a number of snags with the property which could easily be resolved

the house was lovely. Plenty of room for us, five adults, five children (ages 5 to 16) and a large dog.En-suites to every bedroom (6), plus a shower on the ground floor, and a hosepipe in the garden for the dog. Masses of room outside for all to play or relax. Although the garden was NOT secure for a dog. The house was comfortable, beds were good, all the showers worked, we did have to ask for patio door to be unlocked and for bulbs to be changed in one of the showers, and one of the windows would not close, another seemed to be "bent" in its frame. On the gas hob two out of the five rings would not work, and the main oven packed up altogether. they did let us use the oven in one of the other cottages that was not let out, but that was a pain trying to cater for ten in a very small oven, and having to walk it across the way. But we coped and had fun! There was very limited utensils in the kitchen, no mixing bowls, no dishes for the oven and I had to wash ALL the pans before I could use them. Built in bbq, but no utensils for that either. They did not supply toilet rolls, only a small amount in each of the toilets! For the amount we paid there really should have been a few spare, no welcome pack either. There was nothing for children to do, no games in the house, just a pack of cards and a couple of old books. Luckily we took our own. The hotel was quite a walk down a very steep hill, (OK going down) we took ourselves down every night to use the pool, which was clean, but could do with updating, broken tiles need to be fixed. We didn't eat in their restaurant, but the menu looked OK. Apart from that Hotel their was nothing else in the vicinity, just a small local shop. The beach was lovely for us with lots of driftwood and small shells and rock pools, not for small children, as it is quite "dirty sand" . Would I go back? Yes, because I like the quiet and peace, and I know to take EVERYTHING I might need. No, if I wanted to be near a nice beach. Value for money?, I think it is overpriced. But it was quite a late booking, and there were very few places available for a big party plus dog.

The house was large, well decorated and furnished, suitable for adults or families. It was generally well equipped but a few basic things missing like scissors & plastic bowls. A few extras like books and games would have been good too. Lots of space ....we had 5 children and 7 adults and plenty of room for all of us. Wi fi is very erratic. The hotel manager was very helpful & the gym and games room were handy on not such sunny days but it was half a mile down ..and up a very steep hill! .
