Positioned in a highly sought after location in the heart of Buxton directly opposite The Pavilion Gardens, with its 23 acres of award winning beautifully maintained land, these two Victorian holiday cottages (ref 30069 and 30070) and lower ground floor holiday apartment (ref 30071), adjacent to the owner’s home, have been immaculately presented to a very good standard throughout. Parking is located directly next to the entrance to the properties and is suitable for more than 1 car. Adorned with fine fixtures and fittings, period features and beautiful antique furniture, they are an ideal base from which to explore for those looking for either a break outdoors in stunning countryside or to soak up an abundance of cultural and artistic interest. Famous for its opera house which has a spectacular auditorium, and its diverse and varied architecture, Buxton itself has a large selection of boutique and independent shops, craft and gift emporiums. There are cafés and coffee shops, pubs, bars, artisan markets, festivals and street food - and, of course, you are surrounded on three sides by the Peak District National Park. Beautiful walks can be enjoyed at Rushup Moor, and cyclists can take advantage of the Tissington Trail. Bakewell is home to the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall, Castleton has its caverns, and the National Trust’s Lyme Park, the Roaches, the Monsal Trail and even Alton Towers are all just a short distance away. This cottage has been renovated to a high standard, obviously an investment as the whole property is on the market. We found cob webs under the radiator in the dining end, a small saucepan was very very dirty and the oven needed a good clean, the bathroom whilst to a showhouse standard had nowhere to put essentials such as tooth brush, shaving gear etc, there was no towel rail, we found the clean towels on a sofa outside the bathroom also the light above the bathroom mirror never worked from day one. On the bathroom door one coat hook was missing whilst the other was hanging off and unusable. The info sheet mentioned Marks and Spencer as a local store, we discovered that M&S had closed in 2019. It was not possible to hang a dress inside the wardrobe due to the design and the fact that it doubled as a chest of drawers.

This was a lovely cottage, very spacious for two people, well equipped and with an extremely comfortable bed. The location is perfect for those wishing to access the town centre and it is also quiet. The place was generally very clean although I’m afraid the oven had been somewhat neglected, I needed to clean a shelf before using it for grilling. We would definitely recommend this cottage.
