This cottage is an ideal base to explore the surrounding area with York 8 miles away and its wealth of local attractions.

Ideal touring base

Standing adjacent to the owners’ friendly pub, these cosy cottages provide comfortable holiday accommodation with a courtyard garden and private parking. An ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area. York lies just 8 miles away and offers a wealth of world renowned attractions, including the iconic minster, National Railway Museum and Jorvik Centre, along with theatres, art galleries, traditional inns and tea rooms. Close by are the Howardian Hills, popular with walkers and cyclists and Castle Howard, a stately home and estate. Market towns can be found in Easingwold (11 miles) and Helmsley (16 miles), interesting abbey ruins at Byland and Rievaulx and the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington displays over 60 historic aircraft and vehicles. From Pickering (19 miles) visitors can board the famous steam train for a scenic trip through the stunning scenery of the North York Moors to the fishing port of Whitby. Shop 3 miles, pub 25 yards and restaurant 1 mile.

    Not a friendly welcome, forgot we were arriving, so no heating on in cottage. As December very very cold and damp.

    Uncomfortable sofa and bed! Otherwise a nice cottage.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; There has never been a complaint before about the bed or the normally comfy sofa that all comment on, some guests have even asked where to buy one.
