York and Harrogate make interesting days out from these lovingly converted barn which are just a mile from the centre of Knaresborough. Lovingly restored to provide independent, co-ordinated and very comfortable year-round accommodation, The Stable and The Dairy are tucked away in a courtyard where visitors can sit peacefully listening to the tumbling water from the attractive water feature, and The Cartshed enjoys a private garden enclosed by a rustic fence. Enjoy extensive walks from the owners’ farmland to the River Nidd. The bustling market town of Knaresborough is well served with shops, pubs, restaurants and a Wednesday market. Famous for Mother Shipton’s Cave and Petrifying Well, Knaresborough boasts an interesting castle, painted by JMW Turner, perched high on the cliff top. Stroll along the riverside promenade, relax with an ice cream or hire a boat and spend an afternoon ‘messing about on the river’! Just upstream visit Nidd Gorge, a great place for walks and wildlife watching. Explore the elegant spa town of Harrogate, 4 miles, with its Royal Pump Room, restored Turkish baths, theatre, wonderful shops and tearooms (with Betty’s heading the list). For a good day out, the medieval city of York is just half an hour’s drive away. Steeped in history and packed with attractions including the iconic minster and Jorvik Centre, York appeals to all ages. The Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and the coastal resorts of Scarborough and Whitby are all easily accessible. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub ¼ mile.
The Stable can be booked together with The Dairy (CC217024) and The Cartshed (UK2225) to accommodate up to 10 guests.

We stayed there for 10 nights over Christmas and absolutely loved it. I was even better for real than it looks in the photos, not to mention Max, the very friendly farm dog who came out to greet us each time we left and arrived. Cannot recommend it enough and will definitely be back.

Our holiday was spoilt by the all night party next door. A very large number of people descended into the car park right beside the cottage, cars sounding horns, head lights flashing, people shouting, VERY loud music, etc, etc. Bathroom very damp by the end of the due to very little extraction and no window in the room. Farm’s sheepdog lived in the barn and barked through the night. Shame about all this as essentially the cottage was fairly clean and in a good location. We will not be going back to this particular property.

Lovely, well equipped and spacious cottage in a good location. Handy for Knaresborough, railway station, pub and Harrogate. Good cycle storage.
