Built in the 1890s and packed with original features such as beams, decorative fire places and pammant and brick flooring, The Yews provides stylish accommodation for guests seeking somewhere special for their break. In the 1900s this property was the village’s Doctors surgery and features original surgery door with the dispensary window. The Doctor was a keen horticulturalist and planted the resident Ginko and Giant Redwood trees in the grounds.
Sleeping eight in four bedrooms, two of which are on the ground floor, this lovely property also offers two bathrooms and cosy spaces to eat, drink and relax. It is just perfect for families, couples and three generations travelling together as it offers a great mix of period features with all the mod cons needed for a really good holiday. The highly equipped kitchen is also great to cook in and having the dining area there too makes this a really sociable space.
Close to the Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire borders, you really couldn’t be better placed to explore all that these fabulous counties have to offer. Head to Thetford Forrest and Go Ape or explore High Lodge. Why not take a day boat from Brandon and drift along the River Little Ouse? Or for something with more hustle and bustle, city lovers will enjoy the fact that they can be in Bury St Edmunds visiting the Abbey or enjoying the festive Christmas Market or Ely exploring the cathedral and Stained Glass Museum in 30 minutes. Or, enjoy the University City or Cambridge where you can take a punting tour or explore the Fitzpatrick Museum or Norwich with its splendid Norman Castle in under an hour. All four offer a plethora of other attractions, including galleries, museums, theatres and great places to eat and drink, with all the shopping you could ever want.
History buffs should add in a trip to the Hanseatic Quarter of Old Kings Lynn too, where you can join guided walking tours including one that celebrates things that go bump in the night. For a change of pace, you can be at the stunning North Norfolk coastline in just over an hour. Visit Hunstanton for its wide sandy beach, seasonal seal trip and lots of other traditional seaside attractions. And, when you’ve worked up an appetite you will be happy to hear that there are lots of great takeaways and places to eat in nearby. So, all in all a great choice for your lovely break!
