Close to Wells, this mews cottage is built into the hillside and lies in an area with many leisure activities and attractions.

Situated at the top of a no-through lane in the village of Wookey Hole, this attractive mews house offers a blend of old character and contemporary comforts. Formerly comprising the old village school house, these mews houses are built on a slope. ‘Upside-down’ in style, this property has stairs leading down to the living room and kitchen area, with patio doors leading out to the terrace.

Dogs are well catered for, with a dog shower, dog beds and bowls and a secure courtyard garden. It is just a short stroll down to the village with its amenities and the famous Wookey Hole Caves and the paper mill. The area is ideal for walkers and cyclists, with lots of open access land and a myriad of cycle paths and footpaths. Horse riding, golf, clay pigeon shooting, rock climbing and caving are some of the favourite adventure activities, and the area is internationally recognised as one of the best bird watching locations in the world. You can walk from the door up into the Mendips and down into Wells itself, which is only a few miles away. Wells is a small city, with a magnificent cathedral, many medieval buildings, Bishops Palace, and a lively weekly market in the cobbled square. Also worth a visit is the tor and abbey at Glastonbury, the gorge and caves at Cheddar, the Clarks Village designer outlet at Street, and the Roman spa city of Bath. Within a short drive are the long, sandy beaches at Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea and Clevedon. Or take a day trip out to see a vast haven abundant in wildlife, spanning from the coast to the Somerset Levels and moors beyond, as well as old market towns full of quirky features and historic riches - all combining to offer a magical experience that has often been overlooked. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

We enjoyed our short Autumn break at The Wookey House. It is in an ideal location with Wells right on the doorstep, and Bath within easy driving distance. The cottage has all your home comforts, and has a well equipped kitchen, everything has been thought of by the owners. (Apart from no place mats for the dinning table). The Cider, Beer & Biscuits were also much appreciated.

A nice, cosy, well equipped house which is safe for the dogs and central for lots of attractions and places to visit.

The cottage was excellent and everything we had expected - even down to a bed for the dog and toys for him - very thoughtful. Although the description does mention a hill to the property I have to say this was SOME hill not for the unfit at all. Wookey Hole unfortunately apart from the caves offers very little - not even a shop for a pint of milk. Cottage excellent - Wookey Hole a bit disappointed.
