Our third visit to the Wee Byre. We love the peace and quiet, the space and most of all dog friendly accommodation with a secure garden that 2 border terriers couldn't escape from. It has everything you need, very well equipped and great for entertaining friends/family - especially with the use of the tennis court and a BBQ. Only a 5 minute drive to a local farm shop and 10 minutes to Dumfries. Lots of local attractions to visit locally. Looking forward to going back already!

Really good holiday cottage it had everything we needed. It was very welcoming and homely. Very clean, tidy and well maintained. The added bonus of a tennis court and pool room made it very appealing. The garden was spacious, safe and secure for our dogs. It was lovely and peaceful just what you need for a relaxing break.

Great cottage and very secure for the dogs, which means there's no worries about letting them roam on their own. We ate in most of the time and the kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed. Games room ideal as we could use that whilst baby was sleeping to keep noise down. Would have been nice to have some hanging space or even hooks in the twin bedroom as this was used by adults but a minor detail. Would definitely recommend and would love to return. Owners on hand if needed but not intrusive.

A fantastic cottage to get away from the hustle of modern life , the cottage has everything you could need and as located just far enough away from town to be peaceful and close enough to not be in the middle of nowhere. We wish we could have stayed longer or took this cottage home with us , we definitely intend to come back again

This Cottage is wonderful. Beautiful beamed ceilings and a modern Kitchen. Wood burner in the lounge. Games room and Tennis court. Everything you would want from a holiday Cottage in Scotland. Such a lovely countryside setting, you wouldn't believe that it is only a 10 minute drive into Dumfries, where you can find all the Supermarkets, takeaways and Restaurants, if you don't want to bother cooking. If the weather had been better we would have used the BBQ, and made more use of the lovely garden. Our teenagers and our little Border Terrier were all happy too, in fact the only complaint any of us had was too much rain. Apparently the week before had been a scorcher! oh well.

Great cottage. For us the photos of the setting of the cottage didn’t give us an accurate impression in real life. So the cottage only has front gardens, and to access the tennis courts you need to walk over the drive and garden of the people next door (the owners property) So the inside of the cottage is lovely and very lovingly decorated with lots of really nice finishing touches, pictures, ornaments etc. But again, the layout of the cottage didn’t really match up with our expectation (taken from the website) what I mean by this is the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms is directly off the living room with the fire. There is no inner hallway, it’s literally the living room and doors from the living room to the bedrooms and bathroom, and then a very narrow open tread stair case to the one upstairs bedroom - this bedroom does not have any bathroom facilities on that level. Now you may be wondering why this is even an issue that the bedrooms all come off the living room and for us it is only because we have a baby, and that meant this living room was unusable when she was asleep, as any noise made in that room or from that tv just went right into those rooms. It’s fair to say if we had no baby, we would not have even noticed this about the place but - we do - so I don’t want to bring attention to it unduly, but it did have an effect - for us. Ok let’s move on! Games room - excellent! Kitchen - excellent! Warmth - excellent! Beds - very very comfortable! Range oven - excellent! Towels...... aaah. Towels are very small. The largest towels supplied are the same size I use for my hair. Now I’m just a normal sized girl but I did find myself using all of the towels for each shower, and we all ended up doing the same (and then just washing and towels each day) so the towel size was a shame but really not the end of the world. One thing we really really enjoyed was the tennis courts and the rackets that are left there. Our favourite game ended up being a game involving the proper tennis racquets, and the giant shuttlecocks. Also the tennis court is great for little ones to potter around, also we used it for safe bike riding for one of our children. Oh before I forget there is one thing that we weren’t not aware of and that is there is a heating allowance you need to pay for in cash at the cottage. Now this is only £30 but when you’re there and the nearest cash machine is miles away single lane roads - well it would be great to know about this and for this to be on the website details too. If this on the site I apologise - although if it could be made super clear (I personally) think that would be even better. We hope the review has been informative and enlightening.
