The Waterside offers a unique opportunity to holiday in a truly enviable position at a stunning cottage. The large living area on the first floor is the heart of the house with bi-folding doors onto a sunny decked area, a fantastic spot to soak up the sun or enjoy a lazy breakfast whilst taking in the sights of the passing boats. Just a short level walk from the centre of Appledore, one of the oldest and prettiest villages in North Devon, with its cobbled streets and a vast array of popular village pubs, restaurants, cafés, shops and the bustling quayside, there really is something to please everyone. Instow is on the opposite side of the estuary with its sandy beach, bars and restaurants, and the wide golden sandy beach of Westward Ho!, popular with surfers, is just 2 miles. Bideford, Exmoor, Clovelly and Hartland Quay are all close by, and the area is a must for water sports, sailing enthusiasts and fishermen, whilst walkers and cyclists will enjoy the famous Tarka Trail which passes close by. The young and old will enjoy crabbing off the quay, and golf and riding is available locally. For family fun, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks are close by and don’t miss the annual Appledore Book Festival. Free mooring is available outside. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

We had a fabulous time in Waterside Cottage. The views are absolutely stunning and the interior is beautiful. Our only negative comment is that for 9 people we needed at least 3 bathrooms, as opposed to an en-suite and one bathroom. Otherwise we had a great family break, thank you.

Had a lovely long weekend over Easter. Beautiful setting and weather made it even better. The standard of cleaning little disappointing in such lovely property. Also would have been nice to have a welcome tray as in many other properties we have stayed in at this price point. However if you like watching the boats go by and enjoy a stroll for a drink or great food then the Waterside is ideal.

Relaxed, quiet location, with splendid views across the tidal river Torridge. An 'upside-down' house with bedrooms on the lower floor, and an open plan living area and kitchen above, with a large outdoor decking area. Master bedroom with ensuite, double bedroom, and twin room all face out over the tidal river. A beautiful scene to wake up to whatever the weather. The fourth bedroom is at the back and is a bunk-bed set-up with double bed below. The mattresses were all very comfortable, apart from both the bunk-bed mattresses - you could feel all the springs. The kitchen is well equipped, having everything you'd expect, but no kitchen roll. Gas hob, with double electric over and grill. (Remember to set the time on the oven clock in order to get the oven to work). Good wifi. If you enjoy listening to music, there's a Sonos sound system (I was unfamiliar with this, and there were no instructions. I looked it up, and discovered you need to download the Sonos App. This was quick and easy - also required a quick update of software. Then you can access your music library etc, or use the Line-in, which is there if required). Bathrooms are clean and in good condition. Nice walk-in shower in the family bathroom. No spare toilet rolls. Utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Really great place to stay with plenty of amenities on the door step in Appledore.
