This Grade II listed, 17th century stone cottage is set in an elevated position, above a quiet lane in the pretty Somerset village of Coleford, midway between Bath and Wells. Snuggle up in front of the warming wood burner in the cosy beamed living/dining room, with the dining area found in one of the turrets, which offers intimate dining for two. Ascend to the charming, kingsize bedroom in the upper floor of the turret, complete with a study where you’ll also find an interesting selection of books for you to browse amongst at your leisure, as well as a second bedroom with a ¾ double bed and exposed stone walls. On warmer days, enjoy a barbecue in the shared enclosed courtyard with garden furniture, chiminea and BBQ.
Discover the ruins of the nearby canal aqueduct, or follow the babbling brook as it winds its way through the pretty villages of Mells and Great Elm towards the town of Frome. Alternatively, a drive in any direction will take you to many places of interest including the historic cities of Bath and Wells, mystical Glastonbury, the stunning Mendip Hills and Longleat Forest Center Parc is a 13 mile drive. This cottage offers a very special and unforgettable holiday experience at any time of the year. Shop 1 mile, pub 500 yards, restaurant 3 miles.

The cottage was perfect for us as we were on a week's retreat from the world. Otherwise, it might be a little out of the way and not much in the sense of pubs or restaurants around. It was also quite cold inside because of the stone walls. But it's a lovely place with many little deco details, you can see that the owners keep it with great pride and care. We had a wonderful time.

Had a good time but felt the cottage was feeling tired and not worthy of a four star rating. The accommodation is for three people but only two chairs available at the table to eat so we couldn’t enjoy a meal together at any time. Bathroom had black mound spores growing up the wall and on the mirror, architrive around the bath not attached to the walls, no way of having a shower, no hooks to hold the shower head or curtain. Tv worked intermittent and had to keep wiggling the cable to get a signal, pay phone didn’t work and we had absolutely no mobile phone reception on any of our three phones. Pub in the village doesn’t serve food which I think should be mentioned .

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you very much for your comments. I am sorry that you had some problems whilst at the property. Some of these are due to the date and nature of the building, such as the phone reception due to the thickness of the walls, and the mould in the bathroom, which is usually kept at bay by opening the window after its use to ventilate the room, but the room is treated on a regular basis. Also, as the bathroom has circular walls, there are a few design quirks that means we do not advertise a shower, but a bath with a hand held shower attachment, which can be seen in the photographs. Although the nearest pub does not serve food, there are several pubs within a mile or so of the property that can be reached by walking over the fields on foot which have good reviews, details of which are emailed with your welcome message, and if any customer ever has a problem whilst at the property, all they need to do is contact us, and we will endeavour to rectify it as soon as possible.
