Cottage 11 was found to be damp and strong smell of mould spores. We were given cottage 12 within a few hours, which we found to be dry and free from mould spores. However, both single mattresses were found to be in a very poor state. My mattress had completely collapsed and my wife's mattress was found to have the springs at the surface and had to be covered with a number of blankets to enable a form of semi comfort to sleep. I did not have one night sleep which did not leave me with backache. We left on the Thursday morning as I was not prepared to have another night sleep broken with back pain. The wi-fi did not work at all and was left with the original chip unused.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We must firstly say how upset we are that these guests did not enjoy their holiday at The Tree House. The housekeeper prepared the lodge as per normal and did not believe that the lodge was damp. The guests complained immediately on arrival and our housekeeper made other arrangements for them. On being advised of the complaint, we organised for the lodge to be checked by a local contractor who is familiar with the lodges. They said everything was acceptable but a few lodges on the site, which are surrounded by trees, may appear damp, as there could be a lot of moisture in the air. They checked the relative humidity in the lodge and it was ok. We disagree that the property suffers from damp and are aware that there have been no other comments about damp since the guests stay, and other reviews have given very good comments and absolutely no mention of damp. We are sorry the guests had this experience and best of wishes to them for future holidays.
