Brilliant location, able to walk to the local dog friendly pub which served good food. The Tractor Shed had been done out really well and was very well equipped. The only thing to watch out for is that the showers which are in the 2 on-suites are not very big, so the men had to be careful having a shower. There is only a bath in the family bathroom.

On the face of it, The Tractor Shed is a wonderful barn conversion, but unfortunately it did not live up to our expectations. We arrived to find a bag of dirty tea towels outiside the front door, unclean kitchen work surfaces, dirty oven and an infestation of flies. Nevertheless, we decided to clean and deal with the flies ourselves and just make the most of a bad start. However, the barn is situated on a very busy main road and therefore the noise from the traffic is extreme ( night and day ) the entrance is largely made up by glass and as a result it generates heat like a green house and we found that the fly problem was persistent with flies constantly landing on our food and drink. We found the noise, heat and flies unbearable and the final straw came when I opened the drawer next to my bed to discover it full of dirty underwear. Consequently, we left on Wednesday instead of Friday and requested a refund for two nights via the booking agency. We did not inform the owners directly, as we considered them to be unapproachable due to them leaving sarcastic comments in bold writing with exclamation marks next to previous guests constructive feedback in the Guest/Note Book. For example, their reply to the heat problem was don’t put on the fire in summer. We have been holidaying in similar accommodation in excess of 20 years and this is the first time we have left negative feedback. Our suspicion that the owners are not approachable/receptive was justified as they were in denial, inferring that we were liars and refused to offer any form of recompense.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry to hear you had an unpleasant stay at The Tractor Shed. Sadly. If we are not informed on the day of arrival or during your stay of problems, we are unable to rectify situation. We do not know who left the remarks in the comment book. However, the woodburner was used during the heatwave of 2018. I would like to advise that there will be more fans availble for next summer. Hopefully, Summer 2019 will be similar to the heatwave of 2018 32 C+ and the new fans should help keep guests cool. The property was cleaned and clear of flies at 2pm on day of arrival. We personally check the property ourselves. If something is wrong, please contact us with the problems, as soon as possible after arrival. We are always approachable.

Overall a nice cottage let down by a few issues. Extremely hot with just one fan provided. Couldn’t have windows open as too many flies( fly nets on windows a must)On suite sinks may as well not be there they are that small! Convenient location for exploring area, size of cottage good but thought it was over priced compared to other similar cottages we have stayed in.

We enjoyed staying but one or two problems. No mirror in the bedrooms for hair drying,en-suite sinks too small for shaving and teeth cleaning, remembering to bend knees to have a wee.Larger sinks could be put in the en-suite.
