Refurbished and beautifully furnished with private patio and pebbled courtyard overlooking fields, it lies within walking distance of a variety of pubs and restaurants. Whitby, with its delightful harbour and marina is within easy reach, offering numerous seaside amenities. Inland, the North York Moors National Park offers excellent walking and country inns serving excellent food. Shops 1 mile.

    Perfect getaway, beautiful views especially at sunrise, lovely walks and beaches. Cosy, homely feel with plenty of room and everything you need. Will definitely be returning.

    Great location, though you really need your own transport; views were fantastic - doing the washing up with a sea-view is always a bonus! A little bit isolated, but we liked that, and as we're (mostly) fairly fit, walking into town or to the local shop was an option for us. The furniture and decoration could do with a bit of updating (one of the big squishy sofas kept trying to eat my mother-in-law, and the paintwork is looking tired in places) but everything was comfortable and clean, and the provision of coffee, tea and milk for arrival was a lovely touch!

    Eight people would find the kitchen and sitting room very small. The upstairs bathroom could do with a shower attachment for the bath (as has been suggested in the visitors book by previous visitors.

    Lovely characterful property in a great location close to the beach and local pubs. Stunning sunrise and sunset views. Highly recommended

    As a group with 3 couples proberbly not the best place to stay. Would best suit large family. Downstairs bedroom had the one and only shower while the 2 bedrooms upstairs had to share a bath (could do with a shower here) Pleasant courtyard, wonderful views and location are best points for the Toll Bar

    We had a fabulous time at the Toll Bar, the house is big with character, v warm, cosy and well stocked with ever home comfort. Close to great seaside towns, wonderful sea views making it very peaceful, a real retreat and getaway.

    Stayed in this property twice and is ideal for family and friends , great value especially in the winter months which as a family we prefer this time to visit Whitby . Very clean and well equipped .
