Nestled peacefully in an elevated position in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, this traditional, adjoining holiday cottage provides guests with a perfect romantic getaway. Situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Penally with its village shop, pubs and restaurants, guests can expect peace, tranquillity and beautiful sea views. The former stable which served the Manor House, dates back to the early 18th century and has been beautifully renovated into a charming retreat, with an open plan living area decorated with a rustic charm and featuring attractive original beams. Outside, guests can sit, relax and unwind on the private patio area and enjoy the uninterrupted views of the glistening coast, which captures the off shore island’s of Caldey, Worms Head and across the bay towards the Gower Peninsula. The historic walled town of Tenby, famous for its picturesque harbour, narrow cobbled streets and pastel painted Georgian houses, is a 5-minute drive away, or a bracing 30-minute walk along Tenby’s golden beach. A visit to the resort would not be complete with a memorable boat trip to Caldey Island, with its Celtic monastery and Cistercian monks, who have made it a holy island for hundreds of years. Away from the resort, Pembrokeshire’s historic sites are well worth a visit including Pembroke, Manorbier and Carew castles, as are the numerous charming market towns of Narberth, Haverfordwest and the quaint city of St David’s with its magnificent 12th-century cathedral. There are direct train links from Paddington and Cardiff Central to Penally Station, just 5 minutes’ walk away. Golf and water sports are within easy reach and sea fishing is free of charge (no licence is required). Beach 600 yards. Shop and restaurant 600 yards, pub 500 yards.

    We had such an enjoyable and comfortable stay at The Stables! The views from the property are stunning and it’s only a quick walk down to the beach and into Tenby! Would definitely recommend, and we will be back to visit again.

    The Stables is tastefully equipped to a high standard and we really enjoyed our stay, especially as we could take our 2 whippets. Beds are comfortable with quality bed linen and towels. Nothing is shabby or second rate. The balcony, approached from the front bedroom, is a great asset, with distant sea views and is shaded by a really convenient old yew tree. (the weather during our week was hot). The location is quiet though somewhat unkempt due to a couple of adjacent unoccupied and weed covered properties with half-hearted building going on.This is beyond the control of the Stables owners and is only a visual disadvantage. There is an outside seating area to the rear of the cottage which is a bit disappointing as it is enclosed within high fences with no view of anything and approached by gloomy concrete steps. The most tricky thing is the approach from the village.........an extremely narrow and steep track, partially flanked by stone walls. It is necessary to negotiate the car over pot-holes between very close, stone gate posts ; again, not the owners fault ( unless they can do something about the pot-holes) but is such a factor, that it has to be mentioned. Nevertheless a most happy and pleasant stay !

We have recently added the balcony to the front of the property to take advantage of the amazing, far reaching sea view towards Caldey Island. We have enclosed the back garden to be dog friendly. We have provided a seating area there and washing line to utilise the space should people want to use it but most love to sit on the balcony. We are surrounded by Pembrokeshire National Park so lots of places to explore on the doorstep. Concrete is a very practical material to use for garden steps especially by the seaside, not sure how to make them a bit more interesting but they do serve their purpose. There is a property that needs some TLC on the manor estate but all the other houses are very well kept and the fabulous views from the cottage and its location more than make up for it. The road leading up to the cottage is a private country lane and is used daily by the local residence and we ourselves have never had any concerns whilst using it which we do throughout the winter months however if you are a very nervous driver the lane might not be your cup of tea. It is narrow but the bin men use the lane weekly.

    A very cosy cottage with everything you would need for your stay. Lovely views from the balcony. We enjoyed taking the dog on the beach and walking into Tenby. We would definitely recommend staying here.

    A lovely cottage in a pretty village. A very steep climb up a hill, so take good walking shoes. A beautiful view from the bedroom balcony, ideal for breakfast. Perfectly styled and well equipped. Great for a get away from it all break. Highly recommended.

The cottage is situated at the top of Penally village and the last section of the drive, 10 metres I would say, is on an incline. We have never considered this to be a problem but if you do have mobility issues or are a nervous driver this may cause a niggle. The cottage is next to the Pembrokeshire National Park, with fabulous see views where you can walk for miles and is perfect for dogs and people wishing to explore the area.

    Set in a beautiful location with views out across the sea. The driveway to the property is rather steep and narrow, but take your time and it’s fine. The property is lovely but could just do with a good clean, I spoke to the owner who took this onboard, but so not let this put you off booking, it’s a lovely little hide away.

I have spoken to the cleaner and asked her to make time during the changeover for cleaning the hard to reach areas, on top of the fridge freezer etc. on a regular basis.     Nice place , nice view but the driveway to it is not for the fainthearted.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; We are glad you liked the cottage and the views are beautiful, it’s so nice to sit out on the balcony and look out to the sea and over to Caldy Island. The driveway to the property is a private, single track lane. The Cottage is situated on an elevated position so the top of the driveway is on an incline. I would not use the phrase not for the faint hearted as this conjures images of mountain roads close to cliff top edges which it really isn’t. The lane serves 6 properties 3 of which are residential and the owners use it all year round. If you are happy to drive on country lanes and small villages you will be fine. We use the cottage ourselves through the winter and have never had an issue with the access lane and my parents are in their 70s and visit regularly.
