A warm and cosy base, which really makes you feel that you have escaped from everyday life.

Booked this property as it was only 10 minutes away from a wedding and party we were attending. It is very spacious and well maintained. I was very surprised that tea, coffee etc were supplied. Beds are very comfortable. It was a little difficult to find as we came in the other end of the road and the sign is quiet small. The access road is quite steep as is the road to the car park. Unfortunately did not read full description so didn't realise there were several steps to the property. Not great for the elderly or anyone with walking difficulties. Other than that it is a great property. Very peaceful and relaxing. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely property and setting in a great location for places to visit like Longleat, Lacock, Dyrham Park and may more.

A wonderful holiday home, and the hosts were very friendly and amenable. The house had everything we needed, and as such was perfect for a base from which to enjoy Bath and the surrounding area. We would definitely return to the Stables if we were to visit the area again, which we certainly plan on doing in the future.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at The Stables, (1st – 4th June 2018). On our first day we had a bbq and thoroughly enjoyed sitting out in the private garden making the most of the sunshine. We were very impressed with the kitchen facilities; everything that we needed was on hand. The beds were very comfortable, a fresh towel per person was provided, with more available on request. The bathrooms were very clean, as was the property as a whole. During our stay, we took a taxi into Bath, £16 for a 6 seater, which we found very reasonable. We also walked down to Bathampton which is a 25-30 minute walk, we had lunch at The Bathampton Mill, the food was great – service was a bit slow. During our stay the owner of the property called in to make sure that everything met our needs, contact details were also available in case you had any problems. I would have no problem recommending this property to any one heading to Bath – excellent value for money.

We had a pleasant stay at the Stables, which in itself is an area which serves as a perfect launchpad for exploring bath city and the surrounding area. The owners were very welcoming, and the building itself was homely and comfortable. The surrounding area was quiet, and it wasn't uncommon to see deer wandering in the garden areas in the evenings and mornings. For heating and cooking, there is an AGA that is always on which was useful on the colder days. We love Bath and the surrounding areas and would stay here again.

Good location for Bath and walkable to village shop and pub. No problem parking 4 cars and easy enough to manoeuvre them around as needed.

The trouble is that once you find one thing wrong other things seem to appear! Not as clean as it should be and some of the furnishings are a little shabby -stained settee and rug, some cloudy glasswear [best to remove it], old mismatched table mats, dead plants in pots, dirty garden seating, broken towel rail, dusty bedroom, light bulbs not working, ants in the sugar, grimy windows, broken coathangers, clothes moths, - all together certainly not 4Star. The upper bedrooms are really minimal. And the ubiquitous welcome pack although not advertised was a little derisory in the form of a small packet of Bath Olivers - best not have bothered! Also steep hill to the shop and pub. The building is wonderful but really let down by its care and management. Sorry!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We were disappointed with the review. We thank the reviewer for their comments. It is helpful to hear of issues of concern from guests at the Stables. We hope that all who come will enjoy the property and their stay. However we would note that when we met these guests shortly after their arrival, they did express their pleasure with the property and did not mention these concerns. Nor did they raise any of these issues with us either in person or by telephone during their stay although we live quite close by. We might have had a chance to put right some of the issues. The first we heard of these concerns was when we saw them on the website after they had left. Whilst the property will always be some distance up a steep hill from the shops and the pub and the upstairs bedrooms will always be on the small side, we now hope and believe that we have addressed the other issues (furnishings, table mats, glasses, garden furniture, lights and dust) raised by these guests. We hope that future guests will enjoy their stays.

Lovely house and great setting for access to Bath and surroundings - really enjoyed the stay. A bit more attention to detail on cleanliness and upkeep (about 10 missing light bulbs and brackets falling off walls) would make this a 10 all round.

Excellent Cottage. Had a fantastic break. Plenty of room for 6 adults. The only problem was the ants. The owners were aware of the problem but we felt they could have done more about it. They had ant boxes dotted about but they were several years out of date. The problem does warrant the owners getting a pest control team in to investigate. It was a shame as that is the only problem with this beautiful home.

Gorgeous house - interesting, quiet, light, well furnished, spacious. Great immediate locality (walks in the woods, views), and convenient to take bus into Bath (village 2 minutes by car, 10 minutes on foot).

The Stables is a lovely holiday cottage. It was warm and cozy, we didn't put the log fire on, although we had wanted to because the property was so warm. The finishes of the property were to a very high standard and the equipment in the kitchen met all our self catering needs for five adults and a child. We had some trouble finding the lane to The Stables, and ended up driving up to the owners property by mistake. Once we got to The Stables, the drive down to the parking area is very steep and we ended up reversing down so we didn't have to reverse back up and would suggest this. We had a lovely time and would thoroughly recommend The Stables. It is a great location to visit Bath and beyond, but found that we had to go part way into Bath for food shopping.
