Description

There is something for all the family in north Cornwall from stunning, sandy beaches to adventure parks and water sports.

"This detached converted barn is nestled in a quiet and peaceful lane, deep in the Cornish countryside. It is close to Padstow and some of the county’s best beaches. The Stable on St Jidgey Farm is quaintly decorated and provides spacious accommodation for up to six guests. The area is quiet and relaxing yet close to Newquay, Padstow, Port Isaac and a good base to explore Cornwall.
The beaches of Watergate Bay, home to Jamie Oliver’s restaurant and great surf is close by, as are the quaint coves of Porthcothan and the amazing stretches of golden sand at Constantine Bay and Harlyn Bay. Wadebridge, an inland riverside town, is a must with great local shops and pubs, great restaurants and cafés which line the streets of this ancient town. Its bridge spans the River Camel that flows from Padstow at its mouth to Bodmin and has its own cycle, walking and horse riding trails that hug its shore for over 30 miles. Bike hire and kayak hire is available.
Padstow is home to TV chef, Rick Stein and his foodie empire is easily reached. Fish and chips on the harbour side or a pint in a fisherman’s pub is a favourite of locals and visitors alike. Newquay with its abundant surf culture is a great day out with seven beaches for seven days, but if it’s a quieter day at the beach you want, then Harlyn Bay has beautiful sand and some great surf schools and hire shops.
The Camel Creek Adventure Park is very close to The Stable. This is a family friendly experience with rides and farm animals making a great day out.
There are many golf clubs on the north coast of Cornwall from St Enedoc Golf Club to The Point at Polzeath and Merlin Golf Club which is at Mawgan Porth. So bring your clubs for some golf with a view. All in all, this is a lovely barn conversion in a great spot, all set in an outstanding county. Beach 6 miles. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 400 yards."

The Stable was a brilliant base for both North and South Cornwall. The Cottage was light and spacious, with the best equipped kitchen we've enjoyed of all the cottages we have visited over the years. The location was very peaceful, and good garden space to sit out in (weather permitting), where you can listen to birdsong and the geese calling. The lovely hosts were very welcoming, and the Sponge cake on arrival was enjoyed with thanks. Only downside was dreadful wifi and mobile signal! But this is not unusual in the wilds of Cornwall. There is one corner in the main bedroom where it is possible! We loved our stay here very much, and would recommend it to you.

We received a very warm welcome from the owners to a beautiful cottage. Very clean and well equipped and catered perfectly well for two adults and four children. Rural location but main road easily accessible with Wadebridge very convenient for supermarket and petrol! A great base for exploring and visiting all that Cornwall has to offer with North and South Cornwall easily reachable. We would definitely return again. Thank you for a wonderful week!

Our 9 day stay at the stable was better than expected. For us the location was perfect, so quiet, rural, 15 mins from our favourite beaches and not far from attractions for our children. The cottage is very child friendly, more so than expected. Cot, bed guard, stair gates were all out and waiting for us which was ideal. The cottage is very large and the lovely safe garden at the front was perfect. We even entertained and had a bbq in the garden while we were there. It’s got a home from home feel.
