Description

Close to the quaint harbour and village of Mousehole, this holiday cottage is ideal for a family break in Cornwall.

With all the character of a traditional Cornish cottage, this cosy mid-terrace holiday property is ideal for family fun or a romantic rural retreat. The Snug sits in a small hamlet close to the quaint village of Mousehole and the famous fishing harbour of Newlyn with their many restaurants, cafes, arts and craft shops. It is also close to many beautiful beaches. The open-plan ground floor is pleasantly framed by exposed granite walls, there is a cosy inglenook fireplace housing a woodburner perfect to snuggle up in front of or toast marshmallows on. Additional heating is available from oil-filled heaters. The kitchen offers all the modern comforts, and the living room features a comfortable sofa bed, Freeview TV with integrated DVD-player, free wi-fi and iPod dock speaker system. Upstairs, the master bedroom boasts a stunning four-poster bed and provides beautiful sea views across glorious countryside to St Michael’s Mount. The fun, sea-themed second bedroom houses bunk beds, and an extra pull-out single making it great for children. The property boasts many original features such as wooden floors and beams, and a charming garden to the rear, as well as a sitting-out area to the front, it is perfect for al-fresco dining or catching a few afternoon rays. The Snug is perfectly located for exploring the delights of west Cornwall. Walk across fields from the house to Mousehole or hike along coastal paths to pretty Lamorna Cove. Travel by car to the beautiful beach at Sennen Cove. Visit Land’s End with the famous First and Last House and Porthcurno with a delightful sheltered beach, Marconi Telegraph Museum and the romantic Minack Theatre. The area attracts walkers, bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts with the marshes at Marazion and Hayle estuary close by. The historic town of Marazion provides curiosity shops, pubs, cafés, delis and the long white sandy beach of Mounts Bay, perfect for relaxing on a summer’s day or walking along on a blustery morning. The bay is overlooked by St Michael’s Mount dramatically rising from the sea and can be reached on foot at low tide or by small boat at high tide. The busy town of Penzance offers transport links, supermarkets, shops, tea rooms, restaurants and a daily ferry service to the spectacular Isles of Scilly. Take the scenic coastal train service from St Erth into St Ives, passing many beautiful beaches on the way. Within easy reach of the rugged north coast and equally the tranquil sailing waters of the south coast, the area offers an abundance of history and culture, from its mining heritage, to tales of pirates and mermaids to its many festivals. Quaint rather than luxurious but this is reflected in the price. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Taken local amenities to mean walking distance but Mousehole, Newlyn and Penzance are a short drive away as are the Mynach Theatre and wonderful beaches.

We had a fantastic stay. We were pleased to find books and DVDs for the children along with DVDs for adults, as well as a Chromecast. We arrived to a lovely cream tea and plenty of bits for a fire. The house was clean and the bed linen and towels smelled fresh and clean. We walked down to Mousehole everyday, for paddling and sand castle building. We stopped off for Sunday lunch at the king's arms, in Paul as recommended and it was fantastic.
