Perfect for a small family or a couple wanting some extra space this cottages provides the ideal base for exploring the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.

A delightful end-terraced cottage sitting in the hamlet of Preston Patrick. The Sizzit (say it quickly and it equates to ’This Is It’ - you can’t say it without smiling!) offers guests an ideal base from which to explore the Lake District to the west and Yorkshire Dales to the east. Built in 1865 the cottage enjoyed a former life as a sweet shop serving children from the local school, which is at the other end of the terrace. Cosy and full of charm, The Sizzit is ideal for couples looking for a romantic bolt hole, or families keen to enjoy a rural holiday but not feel too remote.
Lovers of the outdoors will no doubt appreciate the easy access to woodland, coast and mountains, whilst being secluded enough to find peace from the bustle of the central Lake District. The Lancaster Canal is accessible within a couple of minutes walk from the cottage, which provides a flat and picturesque walk with the possibility of seeing kingfishers, swans, ducks, as well as pike in the canal (fishing is permitted with a licence). A stroll along the local lanes provides some charming views of the local landscape, as well as the Howgills and Lakeland Fells. Local walks include Farleton Knott limestone pavement which is geologically significant, and spectators can catch sight of daredevils enjoying mountain biking, hang-gliding and power gliding from the top. The popular market towns of Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale offer a great selection of shops, tea rooms and traditional pubs serving local produce. Nature lovers will find the coastal village of Silverdale is well worth a visit including RSPB Leighton Moss, as seen on BBC ’Autumn Watch’, while Morecambe Bay estuary offers fabulous views over the bay to the Lake District mountains. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Lovely cosy cottage in good spot to explore the Dales and the Lakes. We had a super sunny and hot week here and looked forward to coming back each day to the cottage. Thanks very much!
