Providing coastal views and located high above Portreath beach, The Sand House is perfect for those wanting to explore North Cornwall.

Perched high above the beautiful sandy beach at Portreath, with spectacular beach and coastal views, sits The Sand House, a modern, reverse-level, detached house. Ranked number 2 for the ’top coastal properties to stay in’ by the Saturday Times newspaper in 2015, it has raised terraces taking advantage of the magnificent views, and provides exceptional outdoor living, sunbathing, lounging and entertaining areas.
Portreath sits in a valley with an inviting sheltered sandy beach ideal for bathing, surfing and relaxing, with glorious cliffs and natural beauty providing the perfect holiday destination. There are cafés, pubs, restaurants, a bakery and small shops in the village, all within walking distance. The pretty harbour offers a swimming area for children in the inner harbour beach. The area has numerous cycle tracks, coastal paths for walkers and is just a few minutes from Tehiddy Country Park with woodlands providing over 200 acres of paths, bridle ways, cycle and nature trails to explore together with its prestigious golf course, providing something for all the family.
This location is perfect for exploring the North Cornwall Coast, the sand dunes and the Hayle Estuary - a bird watcher’s paradise. The picturesque harbour and glorious beaches of St Ives with its cobbled streets, art galleries including the Tate Modern, shops and restaurants are just a short drive. Take the delightful, scenic train along the coastline from St Erth to St Ives, or cycle a trail running along an old tram line from Portreath to Devoran on the south coast. A short drive will take you to the south coast with its sandy coves and tranquil creeks. Shop and pub ¼ mile.

Impossible to turn a VW van so had to back up considerable distance with sheer drop at side of narrow lane ... not enjoyable or wise at night. No warning of this in house details. High winds revealed problems with the building ... numerous slates fell on our VW van damaging paintwork and a fastened window blew open with blind falling on child sleeping in bed below window. No other houses damaged in this way along the lane. Some of the soft furnishing well past their prime. Fridge and freezer space small for rental house sleeping 7. Owner very friendly and helpful and facilities otherwise adequate or good.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you so much for this feedback, it is always helpful to hear comments from guests. On the last night of guests stay there was severe storm weather which did some damage to the property. It was very severe and to put it into context the local M&S store closed its car park due to roof damage to its store at the same time. With respect to the customer, storm damage does not necessarily damage all properties in an area, thank goodness, but it was extreme weather and there was a lot of damage done in the local area. That is regrettable but it is no one’s fault. No damage was done to guests other than some vehicle scratches, which will be dealt with by insurance and property repairs are being undertaken to repair and strengthen the areas of damage of the property. This property is in an amazing location as the site photos show. You can see the sea and bay from almost every room, the views are spectacular. The guests complain about parking. The property is down a lane, there is parking for 4 vehicles. Turning a very large vehicle can be done but needs careful driving. We are upgrading kitchen facilities for the 2018 season and will increase fridge and freezer facilities for guests, and soft furnishings are also being upgraded over the winter maintenance period . thank you to the guests for the positive comments which are much appreciated.
