Description

Formerly the Royal Exchange, full of charm and character, this property offers guests a perfect holiday experience.

This beautiful, 19th century, traditional Welsh farmhouse is set in the small hamlet village of Llandissilio, just a stone’s throw away from the charming market town of Narberth. Bursting with character and original features, this detached property has been renovated to a high standard, retaining lots of its original features to provide guests with a perfect holiday experience! The farmhouse is rich in history and was formerly the Royal Exchange for the mail that exchanged horses dating back as far as 1749. Since then, the property has been in the family for four generations and has been sympathetically restored to its former glory by using traditional methods to retain its original heritage. Lots of welcoming touches have been added including a traditional Aga for home cooking and a cosy wood-burning stove, which sits beautifully in its imposing inglenook fireplace. Outside, guests can relax in the private lawned gardens next to the shimmering pond and enjoy alfresco dining on a sunny day! Conveniently located in a fantastic touring spot, guests can take advantage of visiting the neighbouring Preseli hills, perfect for rambling or biking, or for discovering its numerous iron age settlements tucked away peacefully in its rugged terrain. Nearby, the traditional market town of Narberth has lots to offer including numerous cafés, restaurants and boutique gift shops, as are the popular coastal resorts of Saundersfoot and Tenby encased in their tranquil fishing harbours and home to beautiful golden beaches, gift shops and highly acclaimed restaurants with freshly caught fish always on the menu. A visit to the resort would not be complete without a memorable boat trip to the offshore island of Caldey, where visitors can share the serenity and tranquillity of the Cistercian monks, who have made this holy island home for hundreds of years. For a family day out, visit the awarding-winning leisure attractions of Oakwood, Heatherton and Folly Farm. Beach 10 miles. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

Beamed open-plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove in inglenook fireplace and slate floor. Large, beamed kitchen with Aga (for cooking) and slate floor. Utility. Sun room. Shower room with toilet. First floor: Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Single bedroom with additional pull-out bed (for +1). Bathroom with toilet.

This is a lovely old farmhouse with plenty of room. We went in November and found the underfloor heating perfectly adequate we didn't even need to put the log burner on all week. It's adjacent to a main road so gives excellent access for travelling and we spent many a day at the local beaches and nearby woodlands which are only 10/15 minutes drive away. There is an excellent welcome basket, best we have received and we have been holidaying in this country for over 20 years and there is plenty of household items like washing up, dishwasher tablets and cleaning products. There is an old fashioned bakery just down the road and we often walked down in the morning to get fresh rolls and pastries for breakfast. For dog owners there is a large field behind the house which belongs to the property and very useful for a last thing at night leg-stretch.
