In the beautiful coastal region of North Devon, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of the UNESCO designated North Devon Biosphere, the Hartland Peninsula is great for both seaside and countryside lovers, for those walking the south west Coast Path and for amblers, swimmers, cyclists, runners, stargazers, and cream tea fanciers.
Cheristow Farm Cottages are ideal for extended family and friend groups holidaying together as there are a total of seven cottages on site. Children are very welcome to run free in the picnic/play area and help the owners feed the chickens and ducks (when conditions allow). It’s a cross-country stroll through the woods to Hartland with its small shops, pubs, cafés and craft shops. Cheristow is a great location for exploring both North Devon and North Cornwall, with attractions such as The Milky Way Adventure Park and Wake Park water sports centre, the world-famous Clovelly Village, The Big Sheep family farm-themed park, Hartland Abbey and Gardens, Braunton Burrows and many more interesting places to spend your days.
Local beaches are rugged with sand exposed at low tide – great for rock-poolers and for strong swimmers. For sandy surfing and bodyboarding beaches head south to Sandymouth and Bude or North to Westward Ho! and Northam. A spectacular stretch of the South West Coast Path runs along the Hartland Peninsula’s rugged coastline and is perfect for walkers and view seekers. The popular Tarka Trail, a former railway line, can be joined in the old port town of Bideford and provides off-road cycling through some of Devon’s finest countryside. For a day with a difference, take a trip across to Lundy Island, home to England’s first statutory marine nature reserve due to its unique flora and fauna, and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
