Lovely property with everything you needed. Some furniture and carpets/decor were a bit ‘tired’ but practical for having large numbers of people and doggies. Had a couple of nice local cafes/pubs and the steam railway and boating was great. Having a pool at the house was a definite bonus! The master bedroom mattress wasn’t the best and the plumbing was extremely noisy in that room.

Excellent place for a family holiday. The pool was a great hit with everyone. Part of the charm of the house is that what could be described as “tired” is, in fact, nice quality furniture which doesn’t match completely but is all the better for that. All the bedrooms were comfortable. The dining room accommodated all 13 of us and we are all adult sized, including three teenagers. There is plenty of “break-out” space in the house, so we were all able to avoid being under each other’s feet and the garden and paddock are lovely. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped with everything we needed. We only had a couple of small niggles. We had no hot water when we arrived but that was very quickly sorted with a phone call to the owner, who told me where the immersion heater switch is. The electric shower in one of the en-suite rooms didn’t work and when switched on just sent a cascade of water down the wall. Another phone call to the owner. He said he’d get someone out to look at it but that didn’t happen for some reason. Maybe the late plumber stories are true. We were disappointed that he didn’t turn up. However, we had a great holiday and all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We’d particularly recommend the Bodium Boating Station and Lime Wharf Café which is just down the road. We had fun on the river and excellent food and drinks. We all went for a Sunday dinner to the Castle Inn in Bodium and, again the food, drinks and service were excellent. Parking was a bit of an issue as I suspect people, wanting to avoid paying for the car park at the actual Castle, used the roads around the Inn to park. Both places have a good choice for vegans, which was good because two of our party are vegan.

Lovely place to stay , pool a great hit with the family. Plenty of room for everyone. A bit on the expensive side for a long weekend but as it was a special occasion we all chipped in. Overall a lovely place to stay.
