Sitting in a picturesque location in Northiam, adjacent to the last rolling meadow of East Sussex as it joins the Kent border, The Orchard is perfectly located for exploring the many treasures of Kent and East Sussex. There is a steam train just a few hundred yards away serving the Rother Valley with stops at Tenterden and Bodiam. Alternatively, Bodiam Castle can be visited by taking a gentle boat trip or, more traditionally, by car. The village features the Church of St Mary’s which dates back to 1090, and the Great Dixter Tudor House and Gardens are just 0.25 miles away. There are many places to explore including Hawkhurst, Sandhurst, Beckley and a little further afield are Hastings, Tenterden and Camber Sands.

Great sized cottage for a large family. Pool made it excellent. Bean bags in lounge made up for seating for large group but whilst there are tv’s in most rooms, one in the smaller lounge would be beneficial. Ni DVD player anywhere. Decor a little tired. No heating or hot water for last 36 hours as wind would blow out pilot light. Owner very responsive when called.

Fabulous stay. The pool area was amazing and so was the location. Would be amazing for a summer stay to use the outside space. Lovely walks. The food at the White Dog was delicious. The down side was en-suite showers were small and not enough water pressure, we used the family bathroom to shower. For the price we would have expected towels for the bathrooms having to bring 2 sets of towels (bath and pool) was a chore and not enough toilet rolls for10 of us 3 nights, not a full toilet roll for each bathroom/toilet, we had to buy them. Saying that we would return.

We were a party of 12 celebrating a big birthday. The swimming pool is very good and the property is spacious. The kitchen is very well equipped and we brought in a chef for our celebration meal. There is plenty to do locally - a number of National Trust properties in the vicinity, steam railway just up the road; Rye and Hastings nearby. There were a few snagging issues which we drew to the attention of the owner.
