Great Holiday, fantastic home, has more than you would expect as far as equipment, sundries etc are concerned for a holiday home. Would love to stay here again. We had young children and they were also more than accommodated for. Good local hospital facility's which unfortunately we had to use. Ashbourne is a beautiful town right on the edge of the peak district where we enjoyed fantastic walking and cycling from. Very beautiful park of the country. My following comments are not negative just constructive as this is a fantastic holiday home and we loved our stay. We originally booked for 8 adults and 2 children, a couple dropped out and to be honest with 6 adults and 2 children the house was about the right size. would have been a squeeze sleeping wise for more. Parking this is not due to the owners! they give you strict instructions on where to park and if you don't adhere beware. If you have more than 2 cars between you beware. even if you can squeeze 3 cars on drive you will receive complaints. Regardless of owners advise If you don't park quit a way away from the house you will receive complaints, not that there's any parking restrictions, permits or specific bays etc If you have a nice car personally I like to park it close by not streets away. Neighbours are aggressive and rude, which is a real shame as our experience of local people in general was the complete opposite. Its ok for them to start heavy duty tree cutting at 7am though for 3 days running!! No local facility's, the pub is now over 1mile away as local pub is currently closed. However a short drive to Ashbourne provides all facility's you require.

Great house with a great garden in beautiful area with plenty to do and see. Just a shame the the nearest pub closed down the week we were there so no where to eat or drink without a drive!

Decorated beautifully for Christmas. Log burning stove made it very cosy. Everhot stove a challenge but successfully cooked full Christmas dinner. Owners very helpful. Nearby town of Ashbourne has good local amenities. It would be good to visit in summer and enjoy the outdoor patio area and games area. Duncombe Arms was preferred pub that we could walk to.

What a lovely house and area! We had a lovely time in this beautiful house set in a very pretty and quiet village just outside the peak district. We were lucky and had snow which just topped off our trip perfectly. The owners had thought of everything and we had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. We would highly recommend the house.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Old Smithy. It was a homely place and we had the fire roaring in the evenings. It was perfect for a reunion with old friends and our toddler slept well in the travel cot and loved the playhouse outside. Although there are no amenities on the doorstep that suited us as we were well prepared and took nice autumnal walks to the pub and the garden centre for sustenance.
