A clean and tidy home from home. The photos really do not really show how spacious this house is. There was plenty of room for everyone and plenty of books and games as well. Very impressed and a very enjoyable holiday.

We loved this cottage so much! So much bigger than the photos. Spectacular views from the front bedroom and lounge. All mod cons. Our children are 11, and 13 but they still enjoyed the huge variety of toys available and we all had fun playing various board games in the evening. The pub two minute walk away on same road was gorgeous, lovely food, but book early on a weekend! It's popular for a reason. No local shop in walking distance but a tesc o five minute drive away. Fab park just few minutes from the house which leads into town. We were heartbroken to leave the house a day early due to sad family situation, but we all agreed, young and old that if we go to Dorset again the old shop is where we would want to stay.

We loved our stay at the The Old Shop. It had been decorated for us for Christmas which was just lovely and we had a welcome basket of goodies left for us as well. A really spacious house with everything we needed for our young family - travel cot, high chair and some toys for our 3 year old. The only thing I would say could be improved is to have some more cooking equipment for larger group sizes ... like bigger pots or a wok etc as to cook for 5 people we sometimes had to use two pans. But would highly recommend this cottage!

Lovely stay at the Old Shop. Gorgeous house and very well presented and equipped. Walking distance to Shaftsbury as long as you are able to get up gold hill, it was a bit of a workout with three pushchairs but we managed it! Welcome pack was unexpected and a nice touch.

We all had a wonderful time, the cottage was clean and comfortable and was well equipped. The welcome pack was much appreciated. The only downside was parking. We feel that it's a great place to stay and would definitely stay there again

The Old Shop is a brilliant place for a family with young children. The property is well equipped with toys and games to keep young people entertained, and it is very spacious. A handrail on both sides of the stairs makes them safe to use for those who aren't less mobile. Care needs to be taken to supervise young children if the windows are open upstairs as they are sash windows that open from the bottom. There is a patio outside the kitchen as well as a lovely garden up 12 steps, but this can also be accessed direct from the main bedroom. There are lovely views across the vale from the front bedrooms. Shaftesbury is a lovely old town with plenty to do in all weathers. We will definitely be returning there.
