This delightful, period property offers guests luxury, spacious accommodation situated on the border of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Built in 1857, the house was originally a residence for the head teacher to the adjacent church school. The owner lives next door and has taken great care in renovating this semi-detached property to a high standard with all modern amenities, and the attention to detail is superb. The well-equipped kitchen and breakfast room lead out through the French doors to a delightful private courtyard and wonderful sun trap. The house is next to the grounds of the 17th-century old rectory and behind St Peter and St Paul’s church, famous for its collection of medieval wall paintings. These were believed to have been commissioned in 1450, but were covered over in the next century with the Protestant Reformation. Their discovery in 1852 was an accident, caused by plaster falling from the wall. The ancient market town of Pickering is situated within the region known as Ryedale, one of the prettiest areas in North Yorkshire.
