This delightful, self-contained, semi-detached cottage abuts The Old Rectory on the edge of the pretty village of Selattyn, near the market town of Oswestry. The discreet owners also live next door to the cottage. The area is renowned for its spectacular position on the border of England and Wales and where Shropshire meets the neighbouring counties of Cheshire and Powys. The National Trust properties of Powys Castle and Garden, Chirk Castle, Erddig Hall and Attingham Park are within a 30-minutes drive from the cottage. Llanrhaeadr Waterfalls and Lake Vyrnwy are excellent picnic spots and certainly worth visiting. Bala Lake and Llangollen are home to some extreme water sports from canoeing and kayaking to white water rafting and tubing. There is also a go-karting track and paintballing nearby, and a working farm experience at Park Hall which is an all weather family visitor attraction. The owners were very nice people so I am sorry to have to give this bad review. The worst thing was we were unable to use the Shower due to bad location. The Wash Basin was badly placed under a beam so you had to be very careful not to bang your Head. The Cooker did work but I think it has seen better days. Some other things in the kitchen ie utensils could do with replacing. The Lounge was small but comfortable. The beds were comfortable.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are very surprised and saddened to learn the feedback from this guest about their stay. We are sorry that they had difficulties in using the bathroom. No other visitors have told us about a similar problem. There is full height for standing where the shower is over the bath. We do not understand the 2 grade rating for comfort and equipment. The guest comments that the lounge and beds are comfortable. The cottage is well equipped with a kitchen that includes a washing machine, a fridge, a freezer, a microwave and a freestanding cooker, which is not old and is in good working order. The cottage is professionally cleaned between lets and visitors are often very complimentary about the cleanliness. We received an email from last week’s visitors: ‘Thank you very much for allowing us to stay in your lovely cottage this week. It was ideal and very clean and comfortable, with all necessities. The weather, of course, was also ideal, so all in all the three of us had a fantastic holiday’. This week’s visitors have returned for the fifth year.
