The discreet owners also live next door to the cottage. The area is renowned for its spectacular position on the border of England and Wales and where Shropshire meets the neighbouring counties of Cheshire and Powys. The National Trust properties of Powys Castle and Garden, Chirk Castle, Erddig Hall and Attingham Park are within a 30-minutes drive from the cottage. Llanrhaeadr Waterfalls and Lake Vyrnwy are excellent picnic spots and certainly worth visiting. Bala Lake and Llangollen are home to some extreme water sports from canoeing and kayaking to white water rafting and tubing. There is also a go-karting track and paintballing nearby, and a working farm experience at Park Hall which is an all weather family visitor attraction. The town of Oswestry is 3 miles away and has a range of fine eateries, bars, and a good selection of shops. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
