The cottage is on a VERY busy main road, the noise from which was intrusive with many large lorries and other heavy farm vehicles exceeding speed limits, parking was very difficult and dangerous requiring reversing from main road into very small area at the front of the cottage with only sufficient room for a small car. The cottage was cute and very clean with small enclosed pretty garden but no area for dog exercise. There is trellis fencing around the garden which wasn't effective as a screen from the neighbours! It would have been very helpful to have more information in the cottage folder on how to operate the cooker/woodburner/music centre/TV. It would have also been useful to have a detailed map of the village with information of walks from the cottage. The pub although recommended did not serve food on Sunday evenings and was closed on Mondays, good to know when staying for short break over long weekend. Recommend visit to Hereford/Hay on Wye/Pembridge and the farm shop just outside the village on the Hereford road.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. We are naturally disappointed that you did not enjoy your holiday with us. The weather was not good which may have been a factor. Of your specific points, the dividing garden fence is high by the house to give privacy, but lower, on purpose, further down the garden so guests can enjoy better views and a more open aspect and more light. The garden is big enough for dogs to exercise and enjoy. For longer walks, the area is renowned for the many excellent local walks especially around Kington and the Black Mountains/Brecon Beacons, many within 20 minutes of our cottage. The information pack contained some walks. We would have been happy to provide any additional information. The road does get busy at times and as it is a very agricultural area, our village is surrounded by farms, and there is movement of the harvests (swedes, potatoes, grass) and animals, especially sheep. This can add to the interest of the area. Also, many guests are out exploring the area during the day, so miss the busy road times. The parking area is relatively compact but I have been surprised by the size of some of the guest's vehicles that have parked there and there seems to have been no problems up to the present. Your low score on location is a bit of a puzzle. There are an enormous number of places to visit and things to do within half an hour’s drive, including national trust houses, music concerts, restaurants, pubs, walks, rivers, festivals, churches, cheese making factory tours, cider makers and many more. And there is the world famous Hay literary festival and the 3 choirs’ music festival I hope you enjoy your next holiday.

Nice cottage, very clean & comfortable. Nice, helpful hosts. No getting away from the road outside though, which is a little intrusive.

A Lovely little cottage, full of lots of character. The couple who own the old post office also couldn't have been friendly enough. The only slight impracticality was the wooden stairs, which although gave the cottage such character, were a little of a hazard if someone were to trip, as they were very steep! Other than that, I couldn't rate the cottage highly enough!

Really cozy, steep stairs but you get used to them.Lovely secure garden if you have a dog. Super friendly neighbours/owners. New Strand Inn (150metres) brilliant really helpful, friendly staff & costomers. A must to visit. The Old Post Office is so central to all nearby towns. Plenty to see & explore with Elan valley not to far with fantastic scenery & fishing. We will back back without a doubt.

A beautiful little cottage on the black and white trail in Herefordshire. Very cosy and comfortable, with some quirky traits associated with a property of this age and provenance. Heavy lorries use the main road outside, but they stop overnight, so sleep is not disturbed.
