The Old Parish Hall was built circa 1850 and before its conversion to a dwelling in the mid 1980’s, this beautiful, detached property had many uses for the local community, including being a Temperance Hall. Many of the local people have stories to tell, from wedding receptions being held in the hall or gatherings to watch boxing matches. A lady said that she tap danced on the stage here which was at the opposite end to the fireplace and the original two stone steps leading up to the stage can be seen in the entrance hall, at the base of the staircase. Many of the original characterful features can still be found throughout the hall including the hall beams, stone steps and stone mullioned windows, making this a charming and perfect place for your holidays. For the darts enthusiasts the games room on the second floor has a professional PDS Diamond wire premium bristle dartboard, exclusively endorsed by the British Darts Organisation, Deluxe Classic cabinet including two sets of precision darts, oche line, checkout table and chalk. There is also an added benefit of a private hot tub, complete with a range of facilities including plug and play, LED waterline lighting and underwater light, American Balboa control system, 39 massage jets stainless steel, ozone generator, waterfall, waterproof speaker system, Ipod dock and headrests.

The Old Parish Hall is conveniently situated in the village of Farmborough, Bath, Somerset. The location is perfect for day trips into the World Heritage city to see the famous Roman Baths and Thermae Pump rooms and spa, as well as all many other attractions this wonderful city has to offer. The city of Wells is 14 miles away, famous for its cathedral and Bishops Palace and the mystical town of Glastonbury is just 18 miles. You can also reach Stonehenge, Longleat and Avebury all within an hours drive, and after a day out exploring the area, return to The Old Parish Hall and relax in the hot tub. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

It’s a lovely building in a lovely village but it’s a shame it is located on the main road through the village. The traffic made it difficult to sleep as windows single glazed. Can imagine it’s lovely in the winter with the open fire but in the summer we had a real issue with flies as there was an awful lot in the house. The description of a “games room” was a little misleading as well. The hot tub was great but the roof was not weather proof and made it unusable when raining. We loved the towel service but the selection was not what we expected as there was not enough large towels and too many flannels. That said, Farmborough allowed us excellent access the Bath, Cheddar and the coast. We certainly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this house

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We're pleased you enjoyed your stay and would recommend our home, we try extremely hard to provide a welcoming comfortable property. We try and ensure you have everything you may need with nice little extras such as the Welcome Box with a few treats and essentials. The Old Parish Hall was built circa 1850, it is full of character that an old building should have. In keeping with this we decided we would retain the original stone mullioned leaded single glazed windows as we felt its a key feature of the building. There are double glazed windows in the property. For every person staying there is a flannel a hand towel and a bath towel, so in total 8 flannels 8 hand towels and 8 bath towels. We are very upset to hear of flies in our home, we have spoken to the cleaning team who were unaware of any issues, we believe doors and windows were left open. The games room has a professional dart board, multi games table and many board games and books. We have aerial photographs on the websites for guests at the time of booking of The Old Parish Hall to show the complete site of the property and there are also photographs showing all the rooms including the games room. We always say to our guests we are available for any questions or concerns, now we are aware of the issue with the hot tub roof we will address it.

Our family of five adults and two children spent a lovely week here. We all enjoyed the hot tub and the children had a good time in the games room.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Many thanks for your feedback, we’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay and all the facilities at The Old Parish Hall. We try our very best to ensure all our guests have a lovely stay at our home and always say please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions during your stay. Together with our team we take great pride in our property as it’s a lovely old characterful building. We were surprised with your cleanliness score of 7 as our overall cleanliness score is 9.7 which we are extremely proud of. Best wishes David and Beverley.

Very nice overall but really need downstairs loo as it's a pain going up and down especially when using the hot tub

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback, we’re pleased you had a lovely time at The Old Parish Hall as we try to make it as homely and welcoming as we can. Our home was the former Parish Hall dating back to circa 1850, we have tried to retain a lot of its original features, including the steps to where the stage was, there are 3 toilets in the property but none downstairs. We have also tried to highlight the rural setting of the property with aerial photographs, because of the rural setting certain amenities may not be in walking distance. We do proudly have our Community Shop and 2 pubs/restaurants in walking distance.

Lovely location but obviously on main rd not that that hindered us just a nightmare as drove past it and obviously couldn't stop or reverse once gate open it was easy to get out of way .. lovely charming building..all facilities and home comforts thought of..able to cook food for 8 with plenty of pots pans plates etc -no issues...loved the open fire the tumble dryer to dry wet towels from hot tub etc.. obviously hot tub big bonus, only downside we had to take turns as we were a group of 8adults and couldn't all fit in , which given its January was a bit cold to sit outside and chat... anyway that didn't dampen spirits, everyone enjoyed the accomodation and the owner was very helpful on any queries we had and definitely went out of way to make sure we had a good weekend..would love to return when the weather warmer.. definitely recommend local taxi firm kmj too ,again went out of way to accommodate us and be helpful.. excellent stay ..only reason I didn't give 10 is because I had to sleep in a twin room with my partner which actually probably would be a bonus to most..lol...thanks again Beverly and her husband .. X

Response on behalf of the owner; We are so pleased you had a lovely time at The Old Parish Hall Bath. The gates are always closed for all guests privacy, we would like to point out for guest feed back that you can park your vehicle outside as the gates are 14 foot wide while you open for your access to the drive that allows 7/8 cars guest private parking. The hot tub accommodates 5 people as we advised this would be a suitable size for our property which accommodates 2-8 people. The hot tub is new and has speakers, a fountain, multi coloured lights inside, Bluetooth and aux for streaming your music. Newly built over hot tub is a canopy to shelter from the rain, there's night lights and spot light and a centre Glitter ball for additional effect if required. The two single beds are to accommodate a range of guest including families and children so it is hard to cover all scenarios but we've never had this raised before so we will see if we need to address this dependent on new booking requirements. Thank you for booking with us take care.

I recently stayed at The Old Parish Hall with 7 other friends. The house is wonderful, with loads of character and has everything you need for a great stay. Beverley was a brilliant host and kept in touch with directions, information and making sure our stay was enjoyable. The house was spotless and has lots of homely touches. The house is about 20 minutes drive from Bath, it was very easy to drive in and find parking. It was also very straightforward to arrange a taxi as well, if you don’t want to drive. The village is quite small but there is a pub, shop and a Coop garage a mile or two away. I would definitely recommend this property and would stay again.

The Old Parish Hall was a lovely cottage and perfect for our needs. We were a group of four school friends looking for an escape and this fitted the bill. Very well stocked kitchen which was perfect as we cooked in each night. Lovely open fire with plenty of logs, firelighters and matches provided. The only thing to note, which may be relevant for some groups, is that there is no master bathroom. There is a separate toilet upstairs, but all the washing facilities are within the two en-suite rooms. This was ok for us, as we were quite happy sharing and would work for two families, but if you had more than two couples going away then it might be trickier. The only other thing to note is that it is right on quite a busy road which can get noisy with traffic. This didn't bother us but perhaps could bother some. Location is great, with a community shop nearby and a lovely walk to get to it, and is just a short drive from the Pig at Bath for lunch/dinner/drinks. Hot tub was amazing, clean, warm and ready to go when we got there which was lovely. Plastic glasses to use in there is a lovely touch as well. Overall, I would definitely recommend the house.

We had a lovely weekend with friends. Unfortunately the electricity tripped twice so effected the hot tub so we weren't able to enjoy that! As a group of 3 couples the cost wasn't too bad split between us for a weekend away but as a family it would seem a bit expensive for the 3 nights! It's a lovely home with easy access into the city of Bath. The owners were extremely helpful both before & during our stay. Thank you!

We were always available for any questions or issues during your stay but we were not informed about the electricity tripping and so we could not rectify this. As soon as we were aware we contacted an electrician who investigated this. Since the installation of the hot tub and the games room we were advised to increase our prices to reflect the value of these features but we did not do this, and have kept them at the original cost.
