Description

Dating from the 16th century, The Old Hall Coach House is adjacent to the Grade II listed Tacolneston Old Hall, situated just 5 miles from Wymondham.

Built and designed by Sir Robert Baldock, a member of the Kings Council, this lovely detached property still has many original features including beamed walls and ceilings. Renovated to a very high standard by the current owners, it has been stylishly decorated and furnished to provide beautiful and relaxing accommodation for discerning guests. The property benefits from underfloor heating with hard floors throughout and a woodburner in the living area and has its own large garden area with a courtyard hot tub and outdoor furniture.
It enjoys the perfect position to explore the area, and close by lies the bustling market town of Wymondham, which offers lots of great places where you can eat and shop, along with an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre. It’s worth taking the time to visit picturesque Wymondham Abbey, a magnificent Norman church established in 1107 as part of a monastic foundation. You can be in the medieval city of Norwich in 20 minutes. Here you will find the finest standing example of a Norman castle in the whole of the UK along with a magnificent Norman cathedral, numerous museums, theatres, art galleries and a full range of leisure activities. The city boasts numerous lanes and alleys full of quirky shops as well as two indoor malls, numerous cafés and fine dining restaurants. The surrounding countryside provides endless opportunities for cycling and walking, for a change of pace, head to Thetford Forest and High Lodge, a recreational site with walks and cycle routes along with more challenging mountain bike trails, and Go Ape treetop adventures. In just 30 minutes you can also be at Wroxham, the gateway to the Norfolk Broads, where you can charter a day boat or join an organised tour. The North Norfolk coast can be reached with a 40 minute drive, or you can explore the east coast at picturesque Winterton, where you can see grey seals in their natural environment and Great Yarmouth, where you will discover all the fun of fair and glorious beaches. Head south to Southwold with its Victorian pier, or even a spot of crabbing at Walberswick, all under 30 miles from the Coach House. Add in several National Trust properties, excellent museums and birdwatching activities, zoos, golf, fishing, salt, fresh and game, and you will soon see why this part of Norfolk is so popular with guests who return year after year, and you will be sure to return to The Old Hall Coach House too. The Old Coach House itself was lovely and tastefully decorated / well presented; it can easily accommodate 6 adults without it feeling small. It has a fantastic, large, secure garden which is perfect for dogs. Letting it down slightly were the beds, particularly the ground floor kingsize bed. This bed would not suit light sleepers as it has a VERY noisy metal frame. In addition, frustratingly, the pillows easily slip through the metal headboard. Another improvement required is the washing machine. This machine is unpleasantly loud during its spin cycle.

The old hall coach house is a fantastic place to stay if you want time away from it all. Lots of room inside and outside. Tastefully decorated and well presented. Large enclosed garden, which the children and dog loved playing in. My favourite thing about it was the hot tub. Would definitely recommend.
