This property is part of our English Country Cottages collection

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Unique and quirky, with stone spiral stairs and floor to ceiling picture window, this gem has been featured in the House and Garden magazine.

The Old Guildhall, reputed to be the original meeting place of the ancient order of stone cutters and marblers, is a unique and individual property with contemporary and quirky design practically combined with many original period features. The house has many original works of art on display which adds to the ambiance, and has been featured in the House and Garden magazine. The owner thoughtfully provides a luxurious hamper. The stunning village of Corfe Castle stands at the gateway to the Isle of Purbeck, and is dominated by the ruined castle, which is a delight any time of year. Other family attractions include a model village and interactive exhibition, the village museum, a steam railway and many shops, and Corfe Common is found just on the edge of the village with the Purbeck Way walking route passing through it to reach Chapman’s Pool and the South West Coast Path. The village is constructed almost completely from the local grey Purbeck limestone and around the village square there are a small collection of shops clustered together. The UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coastline is a short drive away, with the famous Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Discover the town of Swanage with its beach, boat trips, Durlston Country Park and Steam Railway. Monkey World and the Tank Museum are also close by. Shop and pubs 100 yards.

I have been holidaying in Dorset for over 30 years and love the area .So many beautiful places to visit with some of the best beaches in the UK. The cottage we stayed in was just ok . Be warned it is on a very busy road . Parking at the property is very tight although there is a permit within the property to park at Corfe train station about a 5 minute walk away . The two village pubs do great food.

The cottage was unique in character with artistic design and features, together with a pleasant, secluded rear garden. It is very spacious, but disappointing in its cleanliness, and in need of updating. Very well situated for the village centre. Parking in space by front door not ideal due to closeness to heavy traffic and lack of space when opening doors. Some traffic noise in the bedrooms.

This is a unique, well-equipped, cottage, surrounded by artwork, literally minutes walk from good local pubs and Corfe Castle itself, with a couple of parking spaces thrown in. Brilliant wood beamed interior. It has a nice stoned back garden to relax in too; enjoy feed the fish once a day. It’s minutes from great medium to long walks along the Purbeck Way too. The single downside for me is that it’s on the main Wareham to Swanage road, with traffic picking up around 7am, so, if you're a light sleeper, it may not be right for you. I’d advise keeping young children downstairs since the (amazing) spiral staircase may be a little steep and narrow for them.

Dated and not very clean. Traffic starts about 7am. Not very well Insulated against the busy road!

The location was excellent and a lovely big cottage , a good spring clean wouldn’t go amiss. Wood lice love living here. However it was the best holiday we have had in the U.K and definitely fell in love with the village & will be returning 2019 .

Had a great holiday, likewd the quirky house and the location was perfect. Plenty of walking nearby and great eating places in Corfe. Just disappointed with level of cleanliness eg kitchen cupboard, oven and toothbrush mug. Could have done with instructions for dishwasher etc. Despite this would definitely go back.
