This former gatehouse, ideal for family and friends, with shared on-site facilities, award winning spa and children’s playground, is 5 miles from the coast.

This converted former gatehouse on the Plas Talgarth Estate is situated on the Wales Coastal Path and 10 minutes (5 miles) from the picturesque coastal town of Aberdovey and its beautiful sandy beaches.
Should additional accommodation be needed, this property can be booked with Bungalow 6, Plas Talgarth, ref: 27268 (subject to availability and at cost), which is also on site, 3 minutes’ walk up the drive from The Old Gatehouse, and sleeps an additional 4 guests to accommodate up to 16.
This former gatehouse is set in acres of parkland, offering quality, detached family accommodation. The Old Gatehouse itself stands in its own grounds, fenced and gated with lawned garden and gravel drive. It is situated in the Snowdonia National Park, just 5 miles from the sandy beaches of Aberdovey and its championship links golf course. The surrounding area is a paradise for walkers and cyclists – the Wales Coastal Path is on the doorstep and it is possible to walk from the house to the historic town of Machynlleth or Aberdovey along this spectacular footpath. There are numerous other walks all around, varying in difficulty, and for those keen walkers or climbers, the mountain ‘Cadair Idris’ is 11 miles away, and is close to Tallylyn Lake and Tallylyn narrow gauge steam railway. In the immediate vicinity are a number of mountain bike trails and forestry trails, including the original Mach 1–3 trails.
Facilities available on the estate at a nominal charge include squash courts, table tennis, outdoor tennis courts, pitch ‘n’ putt and snooker. Individual spa treatments are available at a 10% discounted rate, or guests can purchase a Spa Treatment Day Pass, also with a 10% discount, (prebooking required). This includes spa treatment(s) of their choice, and entitles the pass holder to full use of on-site facilities for the day, including outdoor/indoor pools, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room, plus a 2 course meal at the on-site restaurant ‘Y Garth’ to finish off the perfect day.
A children’s playground on site will keep the younger ones entertained. Off site, there is clay pigeon shooting, fishing, pony trekking, kite surfing, paddleboarding and quad biking nearby, together with an indoor swimming pool with water flume and toddler pool in Machynlleth, 4 miles. A pub/restaurant is conveniently located on site. Village pub/restaurant 200 yards. Shop 4 miles.

    The house was just perfect the local village people were warm and friendly the Riverside Pub had good food and great atmosphere.The only downfall was some miscommunication about the use of the pool facilities at the ajoining resort.

    We had a lovely weekend. The things that made it not a 10 No toilet rolls No kitchen roll Cooker not clean Apart from that it was a very good weekend Thank you

    Comfortable clean cottage in a good location. The four double bedrooms are of good sizes and all can take a cot. The bunk bedroom was a little cramped due to a third bed but was fine for our two under 5s and it was directly opposite one of the double bedrooms so the kids could easily be seen at night from our bed. There was a problem with one of the toilets when we arrived and the owner arranged a plumber as soon as we told her so excellent service there. If we were back this way again we would definitely book this cottage.

    We were a group of 12, families with children, staying for the new year. The gatehouse was lovely, had everything we needed and was very spacious. Enough for us all to do in the local area and l would highly recommend the spa we used at the hotel nearby. Would definitely return. The house is lovely and perfect for any occasion.
